Need some clarification on the "Resource Cache Enabled" setting...

From the way the description of this setting reads, it seems like it would be good for systems that have a lot of RAM (as mine does), but not a great video card (like mine - onboard video). However, the auto-optimization settings for Performance and Memory both have this option unchecked. Can anyone explain to me what this setting actually does?

BTW, I also dual box almost all the time I'm in Eve. So which setting is going to net better performance for me? On or Off?

I would imagine it caches resources.....

Protip (not just for this issue but a lot of others you will come across in this game): Why don't you just try both ways and decide for yourself which is better.

If you have the memory then yes enable it because it puts such resources into memory rather than off disk so it's able to access them a lot faster.

It will probably help performance where there are a lot of models or ships in space, so there are less chances of pausing or stuttering.

Enabled, my client uses a few hundred MB more RAM, but I experience less hitching when opening inventory, undocking etc. when running more than 1 client.

No idea how much RAM it'll eat throughout an extended session, but I'd say it's worth enabling, unless you are really tight on RAM.

For multiboxing turning it on might be kinda tricky, since you don't want your RAM to be eaten by client 1 when entering a crowded place with client 2.

I'd say enable the cache setting, fly through a crowded place and see what it does to your RAM (see the taskmanager if you're using Windows to see this, ctrl-shift-esc, then go to the tab 'Performance'). If your RAM is suddenly used for over 80-90% when flying with both accounts, I don't think it would be a good option for multiboxing in your case. Keep in mind that the RAM is the lower green bar of the 2 and only says how much GB is currently used, not the percentage of it.
