Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6i-WTa-wOs

Here's one Youtube comment on what happened:
As a fleet belonging to 'Test Alliance Please Ignore' warps to another gate in system, 'Rooks and Kings' set up a warp disruptor bubble to alter where the TEST fleet lands when they arrive. The TEST fleet arrives at the edge of the bubble and into the waiting arms of the RnK battleships. These battleships are loaded with smartbombs that do area damage, overwhelming the lighter TEST ships, destroying most (if not all). RnK then use Micro-Jump-Drives to quickly escape.

Is the comment accurate description of what happened?

Yes.

It's an interesting tactic. Also, its the only one I've ever seen them use when I've run into them.

Hmm. I don't understand this statement: ''Rooks and Kings' set up a warp disruptor bubble to alter where the TEST fleet lands when they arrive." Does placing a bubble actually alter a fleet's landing location?

Yes, in null and w-space, you can set up bubbles to alter the landing point within the warp alignement. If you warp from one gate to another, the drag bubble can either stop you before the gate or pull you further. If however, you warped out of alignement (from a planet at an angle with the tunnel, you can dodge it or by using tactical bookmarks, at 150km minimum from the gate so you can warp to the gate if it's clear.

Also, the warp bubble must be in place before initiating warp. Any bubbles put up after the warp command has been received by the server won't interdict a warp.

A warp bubble is SUPPOSED to trap any warp terminating on the same grid within 100 km, and that originates from a path that intersects the area of effect.

In reality though, the bubble can trap you and drag you much further than that, even if your destination doesn't intersect it. Bubbles are really fiddly in this sense, i.e. they can be much harder to avoid than they're supposed to be.

I've spent a lot of time experimenting with them, and have had them trap me and drag me >250 km. A bubble anchored right next to that one (less than 1000 m position difference) behaved completely differently.

The bubble drag effect explains a lot. I've warped to gate from an angle that I thought would put me behind the bubble, but ended up right inside it. Thanks much for the info guys. o7
