BPOs - Valuation

Is there a way of sensibly valuing a pile of BPOs?

By "a pile" I mean approximately 350. They are all researched to pretty good levels (100+ME and varying PE)

I am considering cashing out on them but the scale of the effort involved in calculating the prices is making me wince.

I don't really use them and figure I can utilise the value of them more effectively (well - at all tbh) if I had ISK in my pocket. Either that or I can spend the isk on blowing stuff up.

Any suggestions? I have a feeling that I am just going to have to do it slowly over time, but you never know. Someone might have a genius idea.

Aaaaaaand relax.

Checking each one slowly is the only way if you intend to wring out every ISK as supply and demand are definitely relevant here. Alternatively you could assign a value to each hour of research, group up blueprints with the same research time per point and with a spreadsheet work out how much each is worth based on that. If you're looking to sell them in bulk or want a hand with a spreadsheet for them give me a shout.

Thanks for a constructive reply. ISK maximising is not really a massive issue if I could get a sensible bulk offer. As a matter of course I have separated them for storage. Maybe I need to do "mini" bulk sales.

I will contact you in game if that is ok and see what we come up with.

As for "NPC" - that is not an option - the research times that have gone into these is sufficient that I would be kidding myself more than anyone else.

Aaaaaaand relax.

i'm currently on the lookout for some BPOs; if you are able and willing to make a list of what you have and send it to me, i could pick out a few and give you a reasonable price.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I'm also in the market for a considerable amount. If you could drop me a list of BPOs and their levels, I can take a look.

Thanks

The best thing to do would be to put them on an auction in the Sell Orders forum and see where it goes. You don't even have to accept or sell them if you do not like the offers.

'best' is always relative to the price. OP could always set up a 24 hour auction and send an evemail to all interested parties...

I should buy an Ishtar.

Thank you. If MD's not going to call out blatant "why yes, privately send me a list of what you have and I'll privately respond with totally market-value offers, for serious" posts, we can't really blame ourselves for the state of the forum community.

OP, a good first pass, if there's nothing else specific about the print collection you can use, is to assume a certain risk-free interest rate (say 4%/month), figure out the total research time spent on each print and compound appropriately, and then sum across the prints. It's hardly precise and it breaks often (e.g. researching beyond perfect ME doesn't/shouldn't increase the value of the print) but it beats just going with NPC value on everything.

If you don't know how to/don't have the time to assemble a spreadsheet that does that, I'd be willing to for a fee. You probably want the experience of doing it yourself, though.

stick em all up in a public place like googledocs
publish the link here
take bids on them over a week or two
update the list regularly with current bids to stop people making silly low bids
at the end
accept the bids where you like the price

stick em all in a can, set it to list by name, select all, ctrl+c, switch to googledoc\excel\openoffice\forum\whatever, see what happens when you hit ctrl+v.

I think that used to work, I've no tried in a while and my memory is bad so it might just be something I've always wished was possible.

So, yeah, when it's up in public I'd like to take a look :)

A slight alteration on the copypasta method above will work - if you place all the BPOs in a contract to an alt, you can Ctrl+C in the contract window and Ctrl+V into excel, this will mean the ME/PE lvl of the BPOs will show up rather than just the name.

Then you can link the spreadsheet here for us all to peruse.

Negative.

Unless I have misunderstood something, neither of the above techniques work.

I can copy the list but none of the values for ME/PE are stored.

Aaaaaaand relax.

Put BPOs in container, contract container to yourself, click inside contract, press Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, paste wherever you like.

You'll end up with something like this:-
