was getting supply's (apple crumble) from my local superstore (new brighton UK) this morning
wearing my EVE hoodie loud and proud *snipped*, when i hear the question..

goonswarm?

i turn around to see some guy sat on a bench with a quizzical look on his face.

my reply:

no *laughs* general TSOs alliance.

the guy looks at me chuckles and we go our separate ways.

this made my day !

I understood the title of the thread that you wanted us to brighten up your day, but then you said you are already having a great day.

I am confused.

Well, have a cute kitten just to brighten up your day even more.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

The only time I met another EVE player in RL all he did was stare at me and then quietly slipped out of the group. Must have been an AFK Cloaker

No really, if I am to base my EVE players experiences on that single encounter I don´t want to meet anyone else playing this game.

The fact a friend in common at a gathering tried to introduce him to me with the basis of both playing eve perhaps added to the strange uncomfortable silence effect that ensued.

never again

then your obviously doing it wrong ... there`s a massive London meet organised by veto next month that I initially said that I would attend but due to the fact that I`m currently unemployed I may have decline I think I`m right in saying that I`ve been to 99% of them ...and once you get passed your initial inhibitions about meeting people that have the exact same mind set but have never had an actual conversation with you will be very very surprised ....for the most part ...we actually don't actually talk about the game ....we just have beers and talk about crap .

if you don't believe what i`ve posted then all you have to do is read written testamonies from people who have worked at various venues that have hosted eve meets without knowing anything about us and commenting how nice polite and lively we are ...without being boisterous ...

I could go on ...but there`s no point

Might have been lingo for swapping ships in space? Talking about letting the capsule ectoplasm flow? Clone Jumping into new starbases? Lol

no one has ever asked me if i play eve. or any other game for that matter. i guess i don't "fit the bill" so to speak, idk. it'd be sort of cool to have someone just randomly ask me about it someday out and about.

So, he was not so bad walking around in the station seeing another pilot face to face with no tank separating you.

I had a co-worker turn me on to EvE. I was playing Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO). Started playing EvE, never looked back. Only EvE player I know in RL.

It might be cool to run into another EvE player. Then again, based on my interactions with people in game they would probably smile at me, tell me they really don't know much about the game, and then suddenly about 200 of his friends would jump into the room and murder me whilst Mr. I'mNew laughs at me while going through my pockets.

Ah, EvE... <3
