Its almost impossible to put it out there so people will will understand it without using an analogy, so I'll just compare it to any consumer product. Anything you have ever purchased, you have the right to complain about, period. Everything you have ever purchased in intervals you have a right to complain about the most recent installment. Why? Because you spent your money on it and you want a good (real or perceived) value. Complaining about should come chronologically before boycotting a product. It's also called "feedback" and critical to almost every good and service.

If a company offers product X and uses the income to develop product Y, it's generally not really the consumers business. If product Y is developed at the expense of product X, it is certainly the business of everyone who intends to purchase product X.

There's complaining, and then there's beating the hell out of a dead horse until it's just a pile of wet meat, and then there's ordering changes based on the premise that you are in charge and entitled to dictate what should happen.

The first is legit and GD is full of it, the second is annoying and there are threadnoughts that keep getting reposted over and over again in GD, the latter is simply delusional and is so far removed from reality you have to wonder what people are thinking.

Given that, what I quoted above seems like a red herring. Cipher, you're arguing for people's right to complain about a product and the value of those complaints to a healthy business cycle. I don't think anyone would dispute that. However, the other side of the argument is saying that we as players are actually not in charge of CCPs broad development goals and business practices. We can't tell CCP what to do, and we have no entitlements or rights to that end. The CSM is just CCP's way of saying "sure, you guys play this game and we would love to hear what you have to say." It is NOT CCP saying "welp, we obviously don't know what we are doing so we're putting the players in charge of our livelihoods." Know your place, pod. Blink

The CSM is CCP's direct response to getting caught cheating in game. Look that up if you don't believe me.

I agree with the gist of the post though, we have a right to ***** (to an extent) but not tell them what kind of coffee to put in the office kettle.

internet spaceships

I don't need to look it up... I remember. ...the CSM today is a lot different from the first 5 CSMs though. They didn't even listen to the first 5. I think the CSM today was driven more by the Incarna riots than T20.

As always when this topic comes up, the standard question arises: what is it to you how CCP chooses to spend its money?

My future time is at stake. When I perceive that CCP is not moving forward its time to move on, should have went with RTS with the planets. Sad
