Bounty Hunter Class Frigates

I've been around a while, read lots of good Ideas... things that NEED to be changed/addressed and things that we're looking forward to. Ever since we've had Strategic Cruisers, the Idea of Strategic Frigates was brought about (although Lately, I've not seen as much on it).

I feel that CCP has had an Ear full of us Wanting the Bounty system to change. A lot of us would love to be Bounty Hunters! While I'm not going to get into that, as there's plenty discussion on it. What I'd like to see, to tie a couple of new things together is a New Class of Frigate, much like a "Stategic Cruiser," but in lines for a (as I'd like to see as a licensed Profession) Bounty Hunter!

Now, the tough thing about Frigates is the limited fitting slots... which leaves little to diversity that the cruisers can achieve. I don't have a detailed solution, but the frigates need something to make them unique, something to be feared without being all to powerful.

I was thinking of a frigate like a HIC, with a high slot focused point, perhaps with the affect of a scram, shutting down MWD. maybe Web bonuses... something to the affect of PRO interception.

This is just an Idea, to spark better ones. I know that this would be tough, but my main point was to make a new class of Frigate, comperable to the T3 cruisers, that has a specific role.

What do you all think? Discuss...

Nevermind the point brought up that this is essentially an interceptor and you just want a new module made up, I wanted to point out one glaring flaw with your post:

Strategic Cruisers are, by nature, modular. One day you can have it flying straight tank+DPS; the next it can be a stealthy recon boat; the next a decent Ewar platform. Strategic cruisers DON'T HAVE A "SPECIFIC ROLE". This is the entire point of the "Strategic" part of their name.

Now, if you proposed a frigate which could go from light gunboat to scout to Ewar at the switch of a subsystem, in the same way SCs can change their role quickly, you might be getting somewhere.

I don't think you would want to take on a high bounty in a strategic frigate, role based or not. Even if it has BC fire power (unlikely & OP) it would likely be up against a BS, dred, etc.

The bounty hunter system is more of a bounty celebrity system atm. It needs to be fixed before I can even form an opinion on whether it should have ships in a dedicated role.

That said, in terms of roles, I think that is a clever niche. I'm not convinced it works for Eve though. I definitely don't think it should be for frigates. Maybe a tech II or CONCORD faction ship.

I should have specified what I meant by a specific role. This should be modular, with some custom slot design... I was thinking in terms of bounty hunting. Given the limited slots that frigs have an addition selected or inherent Bonus, i.e. extended scram range, web, weapons, etc.

A T3 is supposed to be "BadA$$" and your target should have an "Oh Sh!t!" moment when you land near him. Now, I can't put my finger on what exactly that would be, but that's why I posted this. Nothing set in stone, just a discussion of how this could work.

For the record, I've taken down a BS in a frig... A poorly fit one, but an AF spewing 300 DPS can take down a lot of ships... Especially in more buffer fit days.

I just felt that if CCP did do a strategic T3 Frig class, that it would be cool to tie it in with some niche purpose... I have to say, who doesn't like the Boba Fett style ship & feel? That's all.

P.S. InB4 "this isn't Star Wars" comment.
