WOW and thanks. I've been putting off that update for 2 days now and glad I did.

I was worried when I heard this as my comp automatically updated yesterday afternoon while I was at work. I contacted one of my techie buddies, who just worked on my comp, and he informed me that it seems to be an issue with machines that have Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 installed on it. He told me that I don't have that installed on my comp and that I should not have to worry, but that if I wanted to I could uninstall KB2823324 before I reboot my machine.

The above is not 100% verifiable and I am posting to see if anyone has heard if this is the actual problem and if not if I still need to worry Ugh

2 of my machines that are running 7x64 pro auto updated and installed this. So far, both machines run just fine and haven't had any issues at all. I wonder if it does have something to do with certain installed programs like Slade's tech buddy seems to think.

I just checked and my Win7/64 system automatically installed that last night.

It was very slow starting up today and for a good 20-30minutes it really didn't want to run anything, but it seems to have "got over it" now.

I don't touch IE with a bargepole though and I don't have that Kapersky program either, so maybe it is a conflict with one of them.

Thanks for the heads up.

I always have my automatic updating off, but I am sitting here rather confused wondering what the heck is going on since it just finished updating on its own. Ugh
Win7 became self-aware?

/chopping its limbs off and uninstalling the update.

Same here.

That being said my buddy worked on it and something he did may have reverted my protocols.

Note to self: Check with my buddy to see if he turned on automatic updates.
