The following is part of the speech delivered by M. Laurentis Thiesant at a dinner on-board the Iteron class USV Dessarine II in orbit of Vilinnon III at the announcement of the formation of the Institute of Social Development. This recording has been redistributed as a matter of interest to the capsuleer community. Marked as low priority.

Good evening to you all, my dear guests.

We have gathered here tonight from all the facets of life in our proud Gallentean union to stand together in bringing forward a new way of thinking on the political and societal challenges that face our modern Federation. You are the business people, the politicians, the industrialists, the justices, the unionists, the community leaders and the respected others from across our great diverse districts. We gathered here are representative of the initiative and the freedom of opportunities which we have built our civilization on the back of. Through your hard work, and the hard work of those like you throughout the centuries, we have formed a Federation that is the envy of every truly freedom seeking soul in the cluster.

Together, we have built something brilliant, and it is together that we must work to keep the Gallentean dream alive and prosperous. As they say, there is always room for improvement.

The Institute of Social Development will always stand for the brightest and boldest possible future for each and every citizen. We will lobby for the political change that will grow our human potential, we will stick up for the principles of free trade and liberty that are so vital to our way of life, and we will work to develop, procure, and produce the technologies that will be the cornerstone of our advancement into the future.

A network of Institute advisers have already been put to work in their local communities to build change. Here, on a cluster-wide scale, we will stand in word and action to the values held deeply in our hearts.

With your support, we can take the firm foundations of the Federation and construct the best policies to see our nation flourish.
With your support, we can succeed.

Typical Gallente speech. Alot of pretty words but I don't see alot of things being truly said.

What is it exactly that this Institute intends to do?

At the very least, he had the decency to mark this as a low-priority broadcast; better than most of the bombast we see in these corners.

But-- otherwise, the question does stand. What exactly are you intending to do? Planetary industrialization? Ply trade routes? Make long speeches for the betterment of people who like long speeches?

Are you going to form a new organization every time you want to make a long-winded announcement?

So, more combat drugs so that the Federation can meet a 'Caldari menace' that doesn't exist except in his own mind.

Or, at least, so it can meet it without voiding itself in terror. But then, I suppose, it's the unknown that's the most frightening, they say.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I agree. Boosters should be the foundation you build your new society on.

Please set up cameras to film the experience so that you can celebrate the birthing pains of your new society, and so the rest of us may use the data acquired to our benefit.

I wish to congratulate Mssr. Thiesant for the formation of this institute, and also compliment his skills at the art of delivering speeches at the dinner table. This man who I've had the pleasure to meet a couple of times, is a rare individual who at the same time has a deep understanding, and a genuine concern for the troubles an average citizen is facing in his or her daily life, and a marked capacity to approach the societal questions from a solution centric angle.

Although the word 'social' makes some people twitch, this presentation makes it clear that there is no reason to be concerned. Unlike so many institutes, ISODE seems to be something other than one of those faceless paper churning frivolities. Perhaps it will be the initiative which changes the way the other organizations are operating.

You may ask what is it that makes ISODE seem so special? The answer is simple. The people behind the acronym - the business people, the politicians, the industrialists - are those who know how to do the math and who have the best ability to create new opportunities for everyone's advantage. Especially in our time, when wars are raging, old allegiances are shaking, economy is facing fierce competition from foreign sweat shops, and there are dark clouds in the horizon, it is important that there exists forums where the fast thinkers of our society can discuss freely and make schemes to protect and advance the interests of the civilized world.

When I have attended exclusive business dinners, the food has usually been quite delicious. I hope that this was the case aboard the USV Dessarine II as well, and wish ISODE and Mssr. Thiesant best of luck with their future endeavors.
