x, y, and z

According to this source, x, y, and z represent the absolute coordinates of the solar systems center. Now I take that to mean in a three dimensional cartesian coordinate system, the position of each solar system is represented by these three coordinates. I assumed the whole EVE universe was in such a coordinate system. If that is the case, then it also shouldn't be too difficult calculating the actual distance between solar systems. Not that it matters for my project much, but what would the units of measurement be in this grid? Light years?
