Clone Cost Reduction Skill

Who doesn't know it? You are a 6 year old bittervet with 120 million SP, but from time to time you feel the need to derp around in 0.0 with a frig or a destroyer or something. Problem: After a certain amount of SP, your clone starts to cost more than the ship. Is this good gamedesign? No. Yes, I know that the clone costs were reduced quite recently, but this only pushed the SP-threshold upwards. I think we could kick it still upwards a bit, so I propose this skill:

Clone Negotiating

Skill at negotiating better deals with cloning sub-contractors. Reduces medical clone costs by x% (2?3?5?) per level.

Skill Group: Social (because trololol)
Attributes: Charisma / Intelligence
Rank: 7
Prerequesites:

Infomorph Psychology 5
Fast Talk 5
- Social 4

NPC Cost: 75,000,000 ISK (or make it drop only or something)

christ that's a lot of time and money for a skill.. but besides building on the previous reduction a skill closer to the jump clone one would be fine.

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

You've obviously not skilled for caps...

the entire enemy support fleet is dead except for one interdictor a titan could easily finish off with drones  - Commander Ted

Yeah, I chortled a bit when I read that as I thought that the OP was being pretty fair with the price myself.

Didn't all clone costs just drop by 30%.....

I'd say that's a pretty fair discount already.
(Disclaimer: I have 3 pilots at Clone Grade Sigma)
Clone Grade Sigma 92,500,000 20,000,000
Clone Grade Tau 120,000,000 30,000,000

Quibbling over 20-30M ISK or so ...... seems kind of pointless when that's literally 20 minutes (1 tick) of 0.0 ratting or one WH anomaly or 2-3 LVL4 missions.

The cost of the skill, if something like this were to be implemented, is equally "no big deal" especially as compared to skills for caps, etc.....

I simply don't see the huge benefit of spending the time to train a Rank 7 skill for what would be, at Sigma/Tau levels, less than a 10M ISK reduction (since Tau was the grade referenced).

I'm right behind you

Well, this skill is not targeted at younger players, but at older characters that have become accustomed to waiting two weeks or more for a skill to finish. The ISk value is deliberately rather high so that the skill do not result in a net yield of ISK too soon. At the current cost of a grade Tau clone (21,000,000 ISK) and 5% cost reducement per skilllevel, this will reduce the cost per clone to 15.75 million ISK, saving 5.25 million ISK at each podloss. This would result that the 15th podloss after training to skill to level 5 would start to save more ISK than the skill costed way back in the day. The efficency of the skill only goes up from there. And as the the trend in average skill points per character is going irreversible upwards, the skill will get more valuable the longer the servers run.

I think it is important for a game to introduce more and more "sadistic choices" for players with increasing gametime, where each option is in some way enticing bit in another way discouraging. In my proposal you could cut down the costs for losing pods, but you have to train a skill with attributes that don't really fit into most people's skill plan (which is one of the reasons why I don't want attributes to go, they are nice way to slow down skillpoint accumulation). Or they could forgo the skill and train stuff to make ships go 'splode faster, but in the long term they will lose on money.

While I am fully aware that the percentage of spacerich people increases with the amount of SP they got, I know quite a lot of high-speople who despise every second of PvE they need to do in order to finance their PvP endeavours.
