A lot of ppl may occasionally have the so called Escape-Bug. Meaning, u cant use ESC or any shortcuts in game.

Most ppl recommend to reboot. DO NOT!

IdeaAttentionArrow JUST UNPLUG YOUR MOUSE AND KEYBOARD (USB OR WIRELESS) FROM YOUR PC!

Wait a second until your OS recognized the change, and then plug them back again.

BlinkAttentionArrow ALSO WORKS WHILE EVE RUNNING!

And I have the experience, that the Bug occurs when my Smartphone is plugged to the PC.

So, avoid to plug your Smartphone/Cellphone while flying in Nullsec. Cool

I sometimes have this problem at work, and found out recently that Photoshop was somehow blocking the ESC button... as soon as I closed it all was good.

Also, I'm not sure if GD is the right place for this thread

Yeah i know GD might not be the right place... but most ppl will see it there (copied it to Workarounds Forum).

Well, i dont have/use Photoshop. Although a lot of other ppl too I think. So that is the way, how it works for me. ^^

Doesn't work for us luddites still using PS/2 keyboards, due to the way PS/2 works. I'm too cheap to buy a new keyboard.

Sometimes simply clicking in space in the EVE client solves this problem for me.

You should probably indicate that this is a fix, somewhere in the title maybe.

I run into that problem with a couple of co workers (and not saying this is what happens with you) that can't seem to get that just because a window seems to be on top, doesn't mean it's the selected one, and hot keys aren't being directed to it.

Oh, in my case I can click on things like the overview, or drag items in the inventory, but the UI will no acknowledge key presses.

I plan to submit a bug report just as soon as I can replicate the problem.

I would like to see if alt-f4 works. Alternatively, ctrl-alt-del > task manager > end task

Thank you - this was exactly the issue I had, and certainly not a cause I would have considered.

My smart phone crashes my PC unless I disconnect it from the network.
