【Winter expansion】 Please remove 'repackage'

I know that 'repackage' before stacking items is useful for organizing data, so I am not asking for actually 'removing' it, I am asking for making it automatic and invisible to players. The only reason you repackage a item is to stack it, so why not make the 2 steps 1? Making players do that operation is totally pointless and only make the UI feels clumsy.

The idea is make the concept 'repackage' invisible to player: number '1' will never appear under the icon of a single item. When you want to stack 2 items, you just stack them, the repackage step is done without being awared by player. If any of the items is damaged, you get the message 'you cannot stack damaged items' instead of 'You cannot stack unrepackaged items'.

This will make the item operation much more intuitive and benefits literally everyone without controversy. And it is such a easy fix that it is hardly a challenge to include it in winter expansion.

PS: items only talked here, ships are another story.

Full support. And "Stack all" has to repacke all repackageable items besides the damaged ones. But let me guess what will happen IF they implement it... If there is a damaged item selected besides not damaged it will not stack at all an say 'you cannot stack damaged items', so you have to search the damaged item and deselect it.
Same problem if you move more to your carge than fits there. Instead of moving as moch as possible it just stops moving at the next too big item. This is how EvE UI works 2011 Sad

'Stack all' will work like it is now: everything is repackaged automatically and stacked, then only the damaged items left unselected so they are easy to find.

BTW, damaged items do need a more distinguishable and unified mark on icon.

I'd just be happy to get rid of it all together. It serves no purpose but to make busy work. And I dare say there is enough of that going on already.

As well, if something is in need of repair, how about a little red dot on the corner of the icon. Or something.

Ships I need to think about. But I'd prefer the default to be unpackaged at least. The only reason to package them is for tossing into a freighter and how often do you need to do that?

Edit: Seems most of my thoughts were already posted while I dawdled over this post .

Sure, as long as you keep ships out of that rule...

I don't really see a gameplay reason why items and modules must have the packaged/repackaged flag. However i'm pretty sure that has something to do with the database.

Which reminds me, CCP *still* needs to fix what they broke a year ago. When you change crystal types and select the "USED" option, it will still load new crystals, resulting in you have multiple sets of the same kind of damaged crystals. If you then unload and reload again, it doesn't load all the same damage levels, so you have half a set of crystals burn out.

This used to work, I've been raising the issue once a month or so since they broke it, and they still can't fix this one simple annoyance.

I don't think they care enough about crystals to do something about them...

Great idea, remove it all together, who cares if I stack two assembled items, the wasted time and database lag time is terrible.

repackaging is a database function basically allows to keep the amount of market entreis to managable 15k items and not a couple BILLION items.

repack is useful for the ships. Yeah, not really necessary for items.
