"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events.   • CSM Guest Blog: "Reasonable Things" Voting Phase - Forum discussion
  • Recently the CSM asked for player suggestions and "reasonable things". With enormous and very constructive feedback from the player community, the CSM proceeds now to the second stage in preparation for the CSM Summit with CCP end of August. After collecting a Top 99 list of suggestions, the CSM asks the EVE Community for prioritization of these ideas. This is a great chance to participate in the development of EVE, don't miss it and post your priorities here!

  • Battle for 6VDT-H - summary and numbers - Forum discussion
  • The largest virtual battle ever so far took place in EVE Online in the night from July 28th to 29th with 4070 concurrent participants from two of the biggest coalitions of alliances in New Eden, led by Goonswarm Federation and Test Alliance Please Ignore. The battle resulted in 2591 destroyed ships with 621 capsules destroyed. After hours of raging battles, Goonswarm and allies victoriously held the field. International mainstream press picked up this even as well and reported about it.

  • Do not sell in game items for real money
  • As CCP Sunset explains, selling in-game items for real money is a severe breach of the EULA Section 6. B, please do not engage in such attempts.

  • CCP Gamescom 2013 party in Germany on August 23rd
  • CCP will host a party in Cologne on August 23rd during the Gamescom 2013 exhibition. Tickets (regular first-come-first-serve and VIP) are available. Be quick as only 300 tickets are available!

  • Odyssey 1.1 - Warfare Links, Mindlinks, Gang bonus changes discussions
  • For Odyssey 1.1. we're going to be taking a swing at aspects of our warfare link features, as well as rebalancing command ships; please note that these changes come as a package and should not be considered in isolation. The main changes of warfare links are:

    + Warfare links (other than mining links) can no longer be activated inside a starbase forcefield
    + Powergrid need of all warfare links modules decreased by 100.
    + The four Warfare Specialist skill bonus changed from the current 100% bonus per level (after the first level) to 20% bonus per level.
    + Mindlink bonus reduced from +50% to +25%
    + T3 Warfare processor subsystem bonus changed to 2% per level. Command Ship link bonuses changed to a static 15% bonus. Orcas and Active Core Rorquals keep their 3% and 10% bonuses respectively.
    + Availability of mindlink implants:
    > Adding normal mindlinks (including mining mindlinks) to the Concord LP store for 20,000 Concord LP and 20m isk (~60-80m final product sale price).
    > Adding Navy Mindlinks with the 25% bonus to two different disciplines at once (matching racial command ship bonuses) to the normal racial LP stores at 150,000 LP and 50m isk (~200m isk final product sale price).

  • Odyssey 1.1 - Local repair module change discussions
  • Together with command ship, warfare links and gang bonus changes we will also change local repair modules with Odyssey 1.1. CCP Fozzie presents the changes and invites everyone for a constructive feedback. The changes can be summarized as
    + Increase the repair amount for all armor repairers (including AARs) by 15%
    + Increase the shield bonus of all shield boosters (except for deadspace/officer reps and ASBs) by 15%
    These changes include also capital sized repair modules. Drone repair amount will be not included.


  • Odyssey 1.1 - Command Ship rebalance discussion
  • For Odyssey 1.1. we're going to be taking a swing at command ships, as well as rebalancing our warfare link features; please note that these changes come as a package and should not be considered in isolation.

    + All the command ships have two unbonused highslots that can be used for two gang links, or as general utility highslots.
    + One command ship covers each of the lead weapon systems for their race, the other covers the secondary weapon system of their race.
    + All of the command ships are also getting the full strength t2 resists that were...
