I have just recently started playing eve and went with Amarr. I am starting to question my choice and figured I would come to the forums before I get to deep into Amarr. I have done some pretty extensive research on eve and the problem I'm finding is that a lot of the information out there ranges from 2007 to 2012. A lot of changes have occurred since those times. I know there is no best race so I will try to give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
1. Among the fastest level 4 security mission runners
2. Exploration - relic and data in nul when I can run with covops. 4-8/10 DED sites in low sec, possibly nul if I can get an access point in and out. Would prefer to scan and do the DED sites with a single ship.
3. Small gang/solo PVP.

The pvp is my long term goal. I will be using the pve as something to do until I'm a little more trained and as a way to fund the pvp. Do not tell me to go and buy 400 frigates and blow them all up. I'm not interested in pvp'ing today or tomorrow, I have the patience to wait for my dps and tank to be more on par with other pilots, I will gain the knowledge of how to use the dps and tank once I have it. I would also like to use my implants until I can run level 4's securely.

With all that being said, does any single race jump out at you, or at least any 2 races. Why?

Every race has a look and weapon system I can get into. How I style in space in a video game isn't really anything of a priority to me... have you seen avatar?

Tengu can do lowsec exploration pretty well I guess, but so can the Ishtar/Gila with sentries.

For missions I hear a MJD Sentry Drone Dominix is pretty good and it doesn't take super long to train for (might be slower to clear missions than a lower skilled cruiser Raven tho).

So maybe go Gallente/Minmatar, they're pretty good in PvP and the skills will overlap if you want a Machariel for missioning, or a Vindicator for Incursions.

I'm sleep deprived as **** so some of this might not hold water, I also don't do missions anymore.

Should stop posting.

Do not question your choice. Instead, find something to do and do it. You said yourself that you have patience. Maybe even a little too much when you start questioning your choices!? Just keep moving on.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

ahhh, thank you riot girl. Your name from LoL? My favorite game.

Ok so from what I've read minmatar also has some pretty solid small gang pvp options.
How are their ships for DeD sites and cov ops?

I've never played LoL and you're not the first person to ask that. Loki is good for DeD sites and Minmatar have some great ships for solo and small gang stuff. They also tend to be more forgiving on newer players due to easier fittings and no cap requirement on the weapons. Minmatar don't rely as heavily on secondary weapons systems as the other races, so you can focus your training into gunnery.

Amarr has some good ships for level 4s. Nightmare is better than a Mach if your fighting Blood Raiders and Sansha, which you will be if you mission in Amarr space. Exploration, I guess the Arbitrator is pretty good, but I don't have much experience in that area. And for small scale pvp, any faction has at least one ship good for it per ship class.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Rattlesnake is better than all three for solo mission running.

The only thing that you should be worried about when picking race is your looks. Everything else you can just train and do with any character.
A starting character of any race will be exactly the same stats wise, the only difference will be that they will have their race's frigate trained to 1 and their race's main weapons trained to 1. ( or 3 on either/both, been too long )

What ships you want to fly isn't a choice of race, as any race can fly any ship, as long as you train up for them. As for what you want to do...

Vargur ( Minnie marauder ), is a very solid choice for missions imho, does them well, does them fast.

When it comes to exploration, I'm a big fan of the Loki myself, simply because I hate tengu's. However, recently they shut out all T3 ships from a bunch of different low-sec sites, meaning I can't use my little pwnmobile to run those anymore.
Out in null the sites should be nice and accessible still though.

For Relic/Data sites, Go for the caldari buzzard or the Minnie cheetah.
Cheetah has highest speed, so easy to fly from can to can, and outrun buzzards.
Buzzards have a 5th mid slot, meaning that after your prop mod, hacker, analyser and cargo scanner, you still have room to fit a point. Combined with the 3rd high slot for a rocket launcher, and you can engage other probing ships out in null that are at the same site as you.
Cheetah and Anathema ( amarr ) can field a gun of their own, but no points unless they sacrifice scanning gear.
Helios ( gallente ), can field a point, but only a single drone for dps, which is less damage than your missiles, so will have to run/die to a buzzard.

As for PvP. every race has MANY choices depending on what you like and how you like to engage people.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

Any race can do anything, it's just a question of style. With Caldari, you'll be getting shield tankers with unparalleled range. With Amarr, you'll get immovable armor tanking bricks that burn heretics out of the skies with their scorching lasers and best cap warfare ships you can dig out. With Minmatar, you'll get zipping piles of rust that can outrun just about anything in game and are jacks of all trade, but usually masters of none. With Gallente, you'll be getting the best brawlers and drone swarm boats.

Which to pick? None. What you do pick is a ship that you want to fly, then work towards perfecting it. Your alliance's war doctrines or your FW will usually guide your path in pvp ships, while the L4 choice depends on where you're doing missions. For instance, in Amarr space, their ships are incredibly powerful, but I'd never use a Nightmare or an Apocalypse against Angels in Minmatar space.

This, your race has zero bearing on what you do in-game, it's the skills you train that decide your future. Cosmetics is all your race/bloodline choice do for you except for a couple early skills which only take a couple hours to train anyway.

Yeah I know race has no difference. Whatever I choose I will stay on my Amarr character and specialize in another race. I am just so indecisive on which one. I love both missiles, auto canons and shield tanking. I think I will go Minnie on main and duel train a caldari for exploration and stealth bombers. Would also let me multi box scanning and site running. Yeah, sounding better and better the more I think about it. Thanks for your input ladies and gents.

I don't see why you need a new character, just train to do the things you want.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...
