It`s also worth noting that CCP knew about this in beta and pushed it through anyways.
Thats awesome customer service.

This is the worst part of this feature.
They know about it and simply decide to ignore the customer that will quit the game

Physically ill? Lol I am sure there are some valid cases and arguments but many cry babies in this thread they swapped a loading bar with an animation.. That's it, sure do some modifications to it but lets not move backwards. Or request a complete text based version of this gameSmile

PS Pls keep it I am in love

Frankly, I find your condescension disgusting, but I have a feeling that it is born of ignorance. Are you willing to take a moment to try an experiment in understanding my position? Consider this:

  1. Find yourself a spike about 10" long, 2" at the base and tapered to a sharp point.
  2. Drive it into the base of your skull, beginning at the lower right side, and angle it up until the tip rests just behind your left eye.

Obviously I don't expect anyone to actually do this, but just imagine for a moment what it would feel like, because this is what it feels like when I have a migraine. If you don't suffer from these headaches, then you probably don't have a sense for how bad they really are, so I will try to explain. It is an intense, agonizing, debilitating pain that can get so severe that it literally prevents me from functioning. Sometimes it lasts hours, sometimes days. Medication can help prevent it, but it's only semi-effective, and once a migraine has set in, there really isn't much I can do but let it run its course.

Migraines have "triggers," these are certain events or conditions that can cause a migraine. Exactly what constitutes a trigger can vary greatly from person to person, but the best thing a migraine sufferer can do is identify and avoid their triggers. Doing so doesn't keep you from ever getting a migraine, but it certainly cuts down on the possibility and frequency.

Until this jump animation, no computer game I had played had ever been one of my triggers.

So why am I still here? My subscription is still active; plus I enjoy the game and I'd rather not leave it. But due to the potential for serious physical pain, my activities in the game have been severely restricted. I'm able to make long runs in high sec by using autopilot and leaving the computer alone until the route finishes. Other than that, I keep most of my activities to a single high sec system, with journeys no more than one or two jumps away while I avoid looking at the monitor. I have been completely unable to operate in low sec (my preferred area of play), as popping out of a gate without immediate awareness of the situation can be quite hazardous.

It is ridiculous to have to play in this manner, and even more ludicrous to continue paying for it. Which is why when my sub is up, if this has not been fixed, I am gone. Yes, the physical pain is real. Yes, it is serious. Just because you are not inconvenienced by this does not give you the right to be rude about it, or to so casually dismiss legitimate complaints that you don't understand.

haha man you are overreacting, such a complex movement this jump animation isn't it?Lol I advise you to stop playing this game, and find another text based mud game or something.

I disagree

Don't be a Douch bag.

The animation does not affect me but it does irritate me especially that back and forth movement inside the tunnel.

Some people have seizures for something as simply as a light switch turning on and off repeatedly. Your ignorance on display here does nothing but show your idiocy.

RollI take it back; my "spike" description is no longer an analogy for thought, it is now a literal recommendation for action. Apparently that's what it takes for some people to understand the concept of empathy. Or at least to understand why quitting over an issue like this is a reasonable and logical response, and not "overreacting."

I'm sorry I made the mistake of thinking someone on the EVE forums could be a rational human being; I realize that's my fault, I don't know what I was thinking; I'll try not to let it happen again.

No going backwards. A 50% reduction in system loading time is a great gain, and I'm in total agreement that any crappy animation is better than loading bars. It would be cool if it was more like Stargate tunnels or Babylon 5 hyperspace, but it's definitely going in the right direction.

If you have visual trouble with the animation you should check this out.

Doctor Gogela recommends you shake vigorously.

Again, no one is advocating removing it (at least not permanently); what we want is an OPTION to disable it if we so choose. I don't know why we have to keep reiterating that point, and I really don't understand why anyone is opposed to making an animation optional.

I agree with the progress thing btw and understand the coding issue to an extent and see it`s kind of all or nothing.
It is in essence an improvement but there are clearly problems with it.
There have been problems with it from the outset and still there are problems now.
The animation just isn`t really good for me ( I can only speak for myself )

The initial camera rotation isn`t a good thing , then I get flashy lights and the refocus at the end... erggh lol.

I have changed my play style a little, I can hover over the minimized window whilst alt tabbed out ok (found that out today )
and will prob do some incursions on my alt a little ( not much gate jumping there either ).

There comes a point when the game runs out of options for me tho and that makes me sad.
It`s not a rage quit thing, it`s just the game for me has become very low value.

This thread has gone on for a long time and I entered it late and there has been a lack off CCP presence here. It is just turning into a "if you can`t put up with it you`re a tard " thread.
Unfortunately this does nothing to increase the value of the game. The guys that are taking this kind of attitude are just endorsing CCPs`s lack of customer service and action. This will just continue

If the game is going to progress, then everybody has a responsibility to make sure issues get beta`d , launched and fixed in a proper way.

With the dust 514 financial anchor dragging along , we all need to make sure CCP does the most it can with its money in EVE too.

The lack of immersion is one of the biggest problems in EvE as far as I'm concerned... scale is way off, asteroid belts, gas clouds, and complexes have no depth and lack dynamism, and then there's incarna. I'm thrilled CCP recognizes this and is doing stuff about it!!! Just getting CCP to recognize a problem is one of the biggest hurdles to solving it. They'll find the technical solution.

As for the trans-system tunnel being beta-y, well I'll grant you that. I've played this game for about 7 years though, and most of the features they put in the game are beta-y initially. The only question that's relevant is "are things better than they were before the addition of this feature", and the answer is decidedly "yes" in this case. Is there room for improvement? You bet. ...but at least they are on it!

DUST 514 does indeed suck hard. I've been playing the hell out of it... but I can't imagine it's drawing a lot of EvE resources. The "progress" they've been making with the game is very slow, and the the production value is obviously low. Really low. CCP can't be spending much... and as we learned from Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge: "slaves are cheap."

boot.ini working? Check.

Not getting stuck in gates? Check.

Not phantom warping away from things? Check.

...so what's the troubles, bubbles?

It truly is horrid.

I just fill my screen with another window like market, or cargo hold and keep my overview visible. That covers it up and I don't have to look at it and what you need is visible in the overview.

I know how hard it can be to put another option in the config and add an if statement.

Seems "wormholes" don't have a "wormhole" effect.

This is kinda like the font issue from Dec 05 / Jan 06. They changed the font in the game and I could not tell 5 from S and a few others. I couldn't play, so canceled my account. It was 6 years before they fixed that, maybe sooner, I don't know when exactly and I didn't play for the whole time. No real loss. You close your account and find other things to do.

I suspect this will be the same.

Opening a window to cover it up sounds like a good idea, I'll have to try that.

I suspect this is why they increased system requirements. Nothing else needs that much processor to run.

CCP will lose subscribers over this, but that is their choice.

Everyone else has a choice to put up with it or quit.

I mean, what really is the object of this game. To make isk. If you don't play you don't need to "make isk".

Personally I can do without this game.

probably about 6...7.. for all you "losing subscribers" they will gain more to fill your place. Sure they can modify the animation, but there is no need to remove it or an option to "not display animation", how many games have you seen where you can disable animations? it is a must these days to immerse players in the game, stop whining Lol

I disagree

I wonder if this topic can really give an idea of the amount of players who are annoyed by this animation...

I sometimes find in others forums some people who don't appreciate this animation, like in this topic (french sorry), but I don't know if they came here.

For the moment, I log on (I can't say "play" as I can't move as I want now) in Eve Online to make ISK and few other stuffs, but if there is still nothing from CCP, I guess I will have to log off for some years. For now, I will activate a Plex because my account needs one within 4 days but next month, I don't know if I will stay.

Of course, no one will get my stuff if I leave =)

Removing obsolete signature... You just lost time to read that =)

I'm a stargate fan and having the gates in game act kind of like the ones in the show is nothing short of EPIC.

If your PC has trouble with the effect I recommend buying a PC made after 2009 as my off the shelf integrated video card PC handles it without issue every time even with 2 clients running in windowed mode on top of each other.

Seems CCP has lots of alts to spam the forums with.

Really, if you didn't have a problem with it, you would just bypass this thread and go on to the next.
