Relic & Data Sites: Overview Settings?

In the few guides I've found to this new wrinkle for the old magnetometric and radar sites, I'm still thoroughly confused on how one deals with the burst of mini-cans.

It is clear enough that one should cargo scan the target before starting so that one knows what mini-cans to go after if successful.

How exactly does one go after the mini-cans?
- Is there a specific setting to be checked so that one can see the mini-cans on the Overview?
- Is the capture done only with the cursor via the camera view?
- How the heck are the different types of mini-cans identified so that I don't go chasing after trash?

Any help will be most welcome. My Google-Fu was most sadly weak trying to sort this out. Any link to a decent guide also most welcome. Many thanks.

No. They won't appear in the overview.

Yep. It's the only way.

When you hover your cursor on them it shows type. Very annoying when cans cluster on top of one another, but that's how it's done.
