I figure Jump Freighter 5 will just about cover my initial play through.

The scariest thing about Skyrim to me is it has no ending. You can keep hanging out and doing procedurally generated quests for the rest of your life.

There's also no real classes anymore, so instead of needing to go back and start as a mage to experience that, you can just start being a mage at any time.

So probably no need for multiple playthroughs, just one will devour so much time i'd rather not know the exact amount.

With over 600 hrs in Oblivion and 450hrs in the Fallout games, what you say makes me a little nervous.

I should say my goodbyes to EVE now, before it finishes downloading.

Yes, but... perks are tied to levels. So perks would be a potential reason to re-roll a new char to play a new "class."

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Do you honestly think these will be awesome? I imagine it's a notch above the random encounters you had in fallout, but not any more. It adds flavour to your regular quests, but not really any content you persue through the game.

This is pretty much what you could do in previous bethesda games.

On topic: Surgical Strike V is next anyway.

Haven't heard anything about a level cap, but if there is one you'd be right about perks. I'm sure someone will mod the lvl cap out ASAP, though. It's always one of the first things to get done. But on the subject of mods, that's a reason to do another playthrough as well. When you get tired with the 'vanilla' game, you can always bring on the freaks and mayhem.

Think of the dark brotherhood, as an example. You can just keep doing assassination missions for them to make money as long as you like. Killing new people with different equipment in new places. I think they said all quests that aren't to do with the main story will be procedurally generated, so that's like 75% of them. You shouldn't even notice they're procedurally generated, because "go here and kill this" is what everyone says in fantasy games anyway. There will just be no end to them.

This. There is a huge difference in being able to cast all the spells and being having a character focused on being a caster. I think the devs mentioned liking how perks worked in fallout 3 and wanted to bring such choices and options to skyrim, so you can rely on some juicy specialization perks being available.

EVE: Large Energy Turret V, and if I'm still busy, any engineering skills that aren't already 5.

For Skyrim? Destruction, Conjuration, Sneak, and others. Oh so many others...

EDIT: Illusion. Definitely Illusion.

There is soft level cap at 50 after which leveling becomes significantly harder and a hard at around 70(max skills and leveling is tied to raising skills). You get 1 perk per level and there are more than 250 perks available to choose from :P, so you can't get them all on a single character.

I guess I'm old school.

I like starting games fresh. With no preconceived ideas of what I'm about to get into. All I know of Skyrim I got from the trailers.

But as far as skills go I prefer my first characters be sneaky bastards good with a ranged weapon.

So I will skill and perk towards that for the first play through.

I like being a sneaky bastard as well, but instead I prefer to strike with a small, thermo-nuclear explosion from behind my targets dresser.

I've yet to meet somebody who also uses this approach to not-so-subtle assasination. Twisted

I'm pretty good with the mini nuke launcher. But the behind-the-dresser thing. That's an original.
