When the servers go down for the next expansion

Do something like with Apocrypha.. some event that we don't know about... the spattering of "news" stories during the day was fun and being able to log in and see a significant change was pretty cool.

Do something like blow up Jita 4-4. Have one of those Sansha turd-looking motherships invade the Family station in Amarr and make the wreck permament.

It's great that we get to see and test all the little changes but also to have something new revealed with patch notes on the day of the expansion would be even better... maybe skins/logos on ships. something. I don't care.

Not a diplo.

The above post was edited for spelling.

Hoping I don't have to upgrade an OS this time.
I'm running Snow Leopard on one machine and 7 on another. Would like to keep it that way!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

To clarify, deleting boot.ini files is not the kind of launch event we want. Just sayin.

Here's an idea: When the server goes up, no one logs in or updates for a while. Then we can laugh at the QA scrambling frantically to look for the bug in the network that seemingly keeps people locked out.

One thing I always thought would be cool would be to reinstate the first full release of EVE (from back in 2003) during the downtime. Would be some epic nostagia and you could see just how far the game has come. Big smile

In defense of the OP, it *was* quite a ride that patch day. But that took quite some time and work before hand. With all the, I mean with the giant list they think they're going to put into next patch, I won't mind watching a grey wall for a day.

But yes, that was one of the more memorable patch days. Lol

Just make sure you queue up atleast a 15 day skill. Might be a good time to train titan. With CCP record the game will probably be unplayable for 14 days after the servers come up

I also suport the "no one logs in idea" that way I can get faster download speeds.

I don't get it.

So then, after downtime, we play EvE 1.0 ??

Or ... play EvE 1.0 during downtime?
I really hope you didn't mean that,
because it would make you look really stupid... :)

I fail to understand how you want to play on online game
while the servers are offline...

Don't upgrade to Lion ... I may use that time to reinstall Snow Leopard.

yes, yes, yes, yes. this would be beautiful. but I would also feel so sorry for the techs after the fact if we did do this. not to mention, how the hell would you organize 300k+ people to do this? so many people would see it as an opportunity to fly around with a bunch of freighters and drop SBUs everywhere.

Was a few years ago now, but was awesome fun at the time! Big smile

And you do know that CCP do actually expand their hardware over the years to cope with extra players? EVE would be pretty unplayable if we were still on 2003 hardware Blink
