Is EVE worth it?

Okay.

I can play old games with my current low end old bad ass laptop. Steam is full of them.

Sad thing is that this laptop will not live forever, so in some point it will break anyway. It's HP, so most likely mobo will die.

Is EVE worth to upgrade my laptop, so I could play EVE wich I can't currently. My subscription is paid untill January.

Well, as I said, I can play old games with this. And trust me, oldies are GREAT FUN, remember when you had poor FPS 10 years ago in some good games? Now you have epic FPS in any old game.

Problem is that everything else is getting heavier, all work related softwares, internet applications like poker clients etc, so more power would be nice there.

Third thing is that I share my computer with my wife, and it works well.

So, should I just wait untill this old HP G5000 serie laptop dies or buy new laptop now and give this one into recycling?

Is EVE worth it?

Only you can answer that question. Those of us that play it obviously think that it's worth it to us.

buy a new one regardless of eve

the old one will die at the worst possible moment - when you are short on time while you absolutely needing access to a computer, when all stores are closed and you don't have a single penny on your bank account.

better to migrate your data over, set up your applications, ... on the new one before the old one is really dead, especially if it's the only computer in the household.

IdeaRecycle: always

EVE worth it: depends: do you have fun, do you like to socialize? Do you enjoy creating something from nothing?
If your not having fun, then no, its not worth it. But if you enjoy it, it's defiantly worth it.Idea

Your choice!

Is it worth it, that depends on what you think.

I use a desktop that's almost 4 years old, just for gaming (original cost was £2000+)

I won't replace any parts as when something dies on it at this age, it's just not worth messing with. Will just buy a new system when that happens. But I won't consider getting rid of it until something does die on it. Because it does not matter when you buy the next one, because as soon as you do it'll start getting old again.

Question you should be asking yourself, is Eve worth it to you?

Is it necessary to stay with a laptop? For the same money you can probably get a desktop with a lot more horsepower. More bang for the buck and less heat issues.

Been playing EVE for 6 years. You ask me if it's worth it. That is all.

Given that this is a completely subjective question that cannot be answered by anyone other than you, I can confidently answer:

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

yeah, buy a new laptop and assign the old one to your wife. i don't use laptops but i keep my rig continually upgraded, which means my wife has a computer more than ample enough to allow her to surf youtube for lolcat videos and play solitaire. it's a win-win scenario.

Found your problem!

I say this all the time, "The key to a happy marriage is seperate computers".

I've told this to several of my "female" coworker. Being females they automatically disreguard anything I say. "We've been sharing for years, we don't use it that much." Always within a few months they come back to me and say, you were right. Or let something slip like, I told him not to touch my computer. Don't want to get into long story so give your wife the laptop and treat yourself!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

A single game is pretty much never worth a whole upgrade, but if you have other games that would benefit from a complete system upgrade then it would probably be a worthwhile investment.
If you religiously play EVE to the point where you couldn't imagine yourself without it, then I guess in that case it would be worth it on its own.

Happy Marriage!

I did move out of the office a couple months ago. She's in school and needed quiet so I moved into the library'Star wars room.

Well, you can always use your laptop to post on the forums.

It's the best part of EVE as far as I am concerned.

Don't listen to this guy - he doesn't play EVE and has no idea what he's talking about.

Laptops are for reading mail and spooging at pr0n.

Get a desktop and play the game the way the Norse gods meant it to be played

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

too funny you guys. if this was any other thread it would be full of ccp bashing, space barbie this, pony that. it really amuses me that we actually can pull together with out getting off track or insulting the hell out of the op. hmm maybe there is hope for us yet.
