Wrecks that actually look like the ship that was blown up.

Ok so now, no matter what sub-cap ship dies... We always get the same generic wreck in place of that ship.

How hard would it be to replace that wreck with one that looks like the ship that was blown up?

So say you have a harbinger that gets ambushed by a few frigates in space. The battle is long and tedious but in the end the harbinger ends up dying but takes out a frigate or two. The explosion (these need to be made bigger and more glorious too) happens and instead of the same ugly wreck showing up, we now have a harbinger wreck with a incursus wreck and a rifter wreck.

The remaining frigs loot the harbinger wreck and leave. Hours later a pilot stumbles upon the wrecks and wonders what happened there, and from the looks of it he can tell it that the ships there were a harby, an incursus, and a rifter.

Now how cool would that be?

Ideas?

Yes.

I though it was planned?

Its bound to be on the table somewhere, just a matter of time.
I would rather see some optimisation before more assets are added in.

it has sense, heck, missions show some assets like destroyed dreads and even battleship wrecks (like that of the apoc in the odyssey wallpaper, that assets actually exist in the game)....

it has sense that ships leave wrecks like that, just look at capital wrecks...

I think this is more than possible and could already be implemented- I'm not sure why it hasn't yet.

What'd be really great though would be 'dynamic' wrecks that break apart in different ways depending on exactly how the ship was destroyed, too (including things like where shots hit and whatnot).

Yes, that would be really cool.

We should also get new explosions that are bigger and better. Because the ones we have right now suck ****.

Yeah atleast make the wrecks look a little better than a shiny pile of twigs.

Possibly fragments of hull left behind (sometimes seen at various anomolies)

A new 3D model for every ship hull in the game will take a lot of work, but it would be very cool. +1

Well, they already have the original models, all they have to do is tweak them to be in pieces and change their textures to be burnt and exploded.

Which is no easy task and will certainly take a lot of time and resources. The idea is nice, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Not quite everyone...whoa there matey, but I do like the idea. I just think we need more important things fixing and accessibility issues addressing like Colour Blindness options etc.

I've made this suggestion before.

Honestly I don't think it would be that time consuming, especially if most of the resources already exist. just have to fill out the rest (Even if no wreck assets exist, you still have all the ship model assets which can be modified to be broken apart or whatever). Then it would be just a matter of a little code for a particular ship to point to the corresponding wreck asset when it dies and then done.

Knowing nothing of CCP's internal workflow, id say a total of 30 hours for art asset creation, and then a total of 6-8 hours programmer time. That might seem like a lot, but when you have a somewhat large team of people, its basically what one person does for a week and then its done. Id say its worth it.

You really think someone would do that? Just log into EvE and tell lies?
