For the benefit of a player who is currently long term AFK (me), could someone provide me the zeitgeist version of Incursion?

Massive PvE encounter. Sansha vessels led by a GM (in the guide of a Sansha true slave) lock down a constallation. Massive debuffs on rat bounties, shield/armor strength, and damage dealt force players to fleet up and fight these invasion forces one by one.

They turn into nasty fleet fights that escalate to the point where a sansha carrier/supercarrier appears and players destroy it. Loot and cookies follows.

Sanity is fun leaving the body.

incursions are randomly spawned constellation level events where Sanshas fleets invade.

they are well-paying PvE events for well organized and fleets skilled pilots (fleet is required, you would not survive solo and even if you did it will not pay you isk).

there are different levels of systems in an incursion directed towards different fleet sizes. 3-5 ship, 10-11 ship, 20ish ship, and the MoM event (each incursion is lead by a mothership)

find a good fleet, watch out for griefers, and blow up some sanshas.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Actually the scout system is soloable, no need for 3-5 people, and pays out while solo, it's just crap pay though :P

Sounds quite cool, like a one off large scale anomaly? Do they operate in a similar manner to anomalies in so far as low level ones progressing to harder as you move towards nulsec?

does it really? oh.. it doesn't have a 0 payout threshold on the bottom.

i could two box it with RR :P

lowsec/nullsec incursions are more difficult i'm told - they also payout more (payouts are reduced 30% in highsec).

the affected systems have various types of anoms w/ stellar beacons show up in them. there are also system wide penalties applied to player ships in these systems. clearing sites in the system reduces the effectiveness of these penalties.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

You don't even need to 2 box it, just take a faction cruiser/HAC/AF or something similar. I usually run them in a Cynabal when I'm really bored.

What kind of penalties? Are they designed to make the Incursion harder to complete or to handicap griefers trying to jump people running Incursions?

make incursions harder to complete.

Quote:

System Effects
Once an incursion has started system wide effects cause all ships to have reduced shields, armor and capacitor. Once enough low level sites have been defeated system wide effects are reduced and harder sites are defeatable.

Penalties are designed to make people actually do the incursions as opposed to just ignoring them. You get reduced payout from bounties on NPC rats, your tanking abilities get nerfed etc. The more the sites are run, the less the penalties are.

It's really funny to wander through belts and see all the dead exhumers and mining barges because they decided to afk while mining in an incursion constellation. The rats make short work of miners lol

lol I bet.

So with regards to the reduction in penalties, is that something that resets once you leave that particular constellation? Or is there a system whereby you build up some kind of points that make all future Incursions easier to run?

especially when the normal rats are replaced by incursions sanshas. i've never gone and looked but i wonder if Tamas (those are Sanshas stealth bombers Valery) show up in belts?

as you complete sites the bar shifts from red to blue. that's a % effectiveness indicator on those penalties. if a system starts getting neglected (no or few sites ran) it'll start shifting back to red.

Aha, I see, so a bit like building up military level in a system by running anoms.. Sounds pretty good tbh. What are the drops like, any Faction/Officer or Deadspace?

No drops, lowsec/nullsec MOM drops a cap ship BPC, highsec drops some garbage I think. The main focus of payout is CONCORD LP that can be converted to any other NPC LP from the LP store of the chosen NPC corp. You also earn billions from the money you earn completing a site. If you run Vanguard sites with a good blitz fleet you're looking at 150 mil/hour. CONCORD LP store has +6 implants too.

Basically go to an incursion constellation, x up in the incursion channel with something cheap, get to know people, find your way into a blitz fleet and profit for the most part. The general pub fleets kinda suck, but you can still make some decent money. I took a week off work and ran incursions with some friends and made around 6-7 bil for the week.

It's EVE's version of a PVE Group Dungeon or raid. Random Incursion Anomalies spawn, people run those while ignoring the mothership until the last possible minute, to farm quite literally billions and billions of ISK.

I think they're Eysturs, I haven't ever been arsed to pay attention to what they are honestly, but I think they're on the level of the Eysturs. I believe whatever they are in the belts are the same ones in the actual scout sites b/c belts act as if they were sites themselves, you actually get rewards for clearing all the belts or whatever.

Yeah that's about the average for our fleets too, do you fit specifically for NCOs? I've run across some skeet fleets that completely annihilated us in NCOs but we took everything else in system from them. They were fit specifically for NCOs though.
