You must never use the word "bro".

I was taking a stroll through nullsec and someone told me to "get out of my hood, bro"

I got out fast, but not because of what he said, but because of what he said.

German. The whole language should be shut down. Seeing cans in space with words 16 letters long is painful. Anocondas aren't that long for crying out loud. Noone should have to say words like that. Trying to pronounce just one of their elongated words uses up the entire gate cloak timer. Please donate isk to me so I can start a humanitarian non profit corp dedicated to helping our German players find another language. Seriously, those people must take an hour to have a 10 minute conversation.

I'm contemplating starting a corp for Welsh speakers.

Lol, i was going to bring up Welsh in response to this one as well.

Or just about any language/dialect from the Philippines; I could come up with words in some of those that would put 16 letters to shame!

Pubbie - makes you sound like a religious nut case

Blobber - when used for less than 100 people (makes you sound bad at math)

Tac - to speak out a system name - makes people cringe to the max (its a dash)

Typing the monetary system wrong for target. (Multiple decimal points and £symbols at the end of numbers like 1.934.614.99£ ugh)

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I'm surprised no one noticed that Iceland has some of the most convoluted 30 letter place names ever conceived. I'm surprised the country is just called Iceland, and not Icetrekogiodorceotrypkrojfyord.

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.

German is a radical to the max language and if you **** talk it you are literally a fat american conservative stereotype.

Lol, well I'm being told to calm down by one player, and am being called a fat American conservative stereotype by another. Tthis highlights a well known problem with email, posting on forums, etc. You can't always discern the spirit in which someone posts. I meant my post to be tongue in cheek and not too serious, although some German words are crazy in length. Although I am an American, half my ancestors on both my mother and fathers sides of the family are German.

Nerd : Calling a fellow eve player a nerd .... because we all are nerds here Lol

Not so, I have a wife, which means that at some point n time I have to have "gotten some" though for the life of me I can't remember it. Still, that means I must surely be sans virginity and thus ineligible to hold a nerd-card.

Try not to consider nerd as a binary you are or are not type of situation. In my opinion there is more of a spectrum to nerdom. Here is an example of that scale, I'll cover 1 and 10, I'm sure you nerds can fill in the rest.

1 - 400# virgin neck beard in his mom's basement. His only form of interaction outside of those cyber related consist of arguing Star War canon at the local IHOP. If this is you, you should feel bad.

~to~

10 - The married guy, bonus if he has kids, that still finds time to play his MMO or FPS or whatever at least for a few hours a week and is willing to sacrfice those erhm 'intimate' moments with his signifigant other becuase there is an armor roam tonight or pocos coming out of reinforce etc.

Toon - Are you Bugs Bunny, a Disney employee? Toon is a cute sounding word that is used by those who don't know any better. Character or even avatar is more of a word that fits into the harsh nature of the eve universe. Unless you want to imagine that you are Bucky O Hare.

Quest - Missions could be called 'quests' however quests are generally used by the fantasy game inclined. Mission is a better word for the sci-fi fantasy. You ever hear the word quest in Star Wars? The game Space Quest doesn't count.

Crafting - Crafting invokes images of using a whittling knife to create a figurine from an olive branch or something. Crafting is something that generally involves animal skins and primitive methods of creation. Eve is far from primitive and has factories and therefore industry is the correct word.

Who died and made you God, again?

I will call toons as toons. Quests = missions = quests. And crafting = Tradeskilling. Heck, corps are but guilds anyway, too.

Don't like it, lump it.

Ya but you are that irritating WoW apologist guy that no one likes so what you think doesn't matter.

Boat - It is a spaceship, not a spaceboat.

Hmm...well...yes...supposedly...oh, well...Dive! Dive!

the term ship refers to a hull that has a main mast.

real world:

a carrier is a ship
a destroyer is a ship
a submarine is a boat (because it has no main mast)

IN EVE: as none of the ships in EVE have a definitive mast, they are technically space-boats.

the zypher and tempest and probe are the exceptions here as:
the tempest has the sail towers
the probe has a sail fin.

the zypher has a solar sail.

on the front of words that pezz me off.

people who refer to ISK as Dollars (or any other currancy for that matter)

Alrighty then. I was kind of making passing reference to EVE having been often called submarines in space because of the fluid dynamics.
Real world for now. Not sure if present RL terms might apply to a pretend future, but ok. *shrug* Besides, "these are the voyages of the spaceboat Enterprise" doesn't sound quite right somehow. :)
Maybe the isk/irl money thing is people subconsciously wishing they had as much real money as isk? I wish...
