LowSec dwellers, advise me about LowSec

I have been wanting/considering living in LowSec for some time now. However, I have not been able to determine if it would be at all viable for me. I suppose it would mainly be for roleplay purposes.

I am a trader. Is there a market out in LowSec that would allow a trader to make a worthwhile living? Do LowSec dwellers buy and sell in LowSec or do they just hop up to HighSec?

I do not intend to do pirating, ratting, mining, missions, or exploration at this time.

I suppose the best thing to do would be to just go out there and spend some time. However, I would not mind a little advice from people in-the-know.

we send our alts to jita to buy stuff

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

If anything I have found that stuff can be found cheaper in low sec than in high sec, I guess because fewer people are willing to venture out there to obtain it.

Security status derived movement restrictions aren't too big of an issue, everyone has alts, so there's really nothing barring low sec denizens from shopping in high sec.

I don't think low sec has a market that would be interesting for you as a pure trader to consider dedicating yourself too.. but then again maybe there's an opportunity there I don't quite see.

The only viable way to make money trading in lowsec is to supply the hot areas.
Jump off locations for 0.0 dwellers, and faction warfare areas are your best choices. If you don't have a Jump freighter, you're better off finding a highsec area that has people, but needs a market.

There is nothing in low sec except hauler wrecks and disposable cyno ships

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

If you go there, take some pie, you'll be sure to make lots of friends that way.

Like Beekeeper Bob says, there are a a few hotspots and you can pick things up cheap sometimes, fitted ships mostly IMO.

If you go to the Market Discussion sub-forum and do a search on "stocking low sec hubs" you should see that these topics come up once every couple of months and give you some info based on the experience of some traders.

If you are just interested in making isk trading ... stick to Jita / your favourite hub.

This ^

Not much of a market in low sec except what you bring with you. There are a few exceptions...

I still think there's nowhere better to live than lowsec, though.

EDIT: Capital ships and parts. A lot of that gets sold in lowsec. I think you could start something there...

Yes you can build a low-sec market hub. It takes time and effort, and research. Remember not to gouge on your prices and eventually people start to buy from you. That being said do not expect everyone to just let you waltz through their gate camp cause your going to "stock the station". Your hauler is a loot pinata and the insta locking camp is about to be one hell of a big stickTwisted

Look up popular ships flown in regional areas like the Cynabal, Talos, various frigs etc. There is always a demand for meta 4 items as well as ammo, T2 guns, rigs, cap charges oh and catalyst hulls. Yes yes we need those and fittings to boot Twisted

Trading, probably not much interest to a full time trader even for role play purposes. But salvaging...have a think about that.

I'd say start by looking for low sec systems with high activity, normally in Faction Warfare zones. If you can strike up a deal with the local pirate corp, you could probably start seeding common PVP mods with around 5-10% markup. Do bear in mind the market is slower than high sec market hubs since a lot of PVPers restock in bulk when needed (i.e. they lose their ships) from high sec market hubs, or live off loot drops from targets killed.

Doable? Most certainly
Feasible? Depends
Profitable? Hard to say

Hi there, taking an opportunity to plug an old guide of mine, almost all of it is still relevent. Just substitute the whole section on mining for the word 'venture'. Enjoy! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1426508#post1426508

you could seed markets where alliances live. some of them might even blue you and not try to kill you all the time.

at the end of the day however anyone living in lowsec generally has a highsec capable hauling alt and has an established supply chain themselves or via some friends to get anything they need from jita.

If you're going to seed any kind of volume you should definitely get a jumpfreigher first.
