Hello there,

Im new on Eve Online and been fighting my way up in the space for three days, I've lost like 5 ships, but I guess that's because im a little newbie. I purchased a Destroyer recently (wich was destroyed aswell), it was a little slow but had a really good armor in comparison to the frigate type ships.

What ship should I use and upgrade?

Thanks for your time, and sorry for my english, is not the best one around here :).

Did you do the tutorials yet?

See if you can find the career agents and do their missions. You will get free ships and learn about combat.

Also use the Rookie Help and Help channel in game. Plenty of people will help*) you and you will get a lot of information fast.

*) They will also troll you and hate you and mock you and hurt your feelings in any possible way!

And, Welcome to EVE.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

OK firstly battleship is a class of ship hull, you scared me a little with the title.

battleships use large weapons and apart from a couple are REALLY bad at level 1 missions.
For level 1 missions a frigate should be more than enough.

What happened exactly that got your ship destroyed?

I can't really give much advice when you haven't provided us with many details.

Any destroyer will do fine but I bet your failure is in how you're fitting it. What race do you fly? Did you do the tutorials? They contain lots of good information and you get free skill books and ships.

L1 = destroyer
L2 = cruiser
L3 = battle cruiser
L4 = battle ship

that's the usual guide line, but i use battle cruiser for L2 as well

Assault frigate 1 through 3. I started doing level 4s with a myrmadon, which took forever before dfas.

Normally I would agree with the Assault frigate idea but he's 3 days old so I suspect he's not even close to that yet.

So, I should buy another destroyer then?, I had an Algos, pretty slow ship but it had a good armor... I guess.

Thanks for everyone help.

Look up your missions before you do them on Eve survival. This will tell you damage types and triggers.

Algos is fine. Like I said I suspect your fitting was incorrect. Try something like this.

[Algos, PvE Algos]
Small Armor Repairer II
Prototype Armor Kinetic Hardener I
Prototype Armor Thermic Hardener I

Experimental 1MN Afterburner I
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

125mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
125mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
125mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
125mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
125mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
[empty high slot]

Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
Caldari 5
D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. S.A.S
Affirmative.

The best mission runner will depend on where you are doing missions and that rats that you are primarily fighting. If you need to deal EM/Therm constantly then an Amarrian Frigate will do much better than a Gallente one using Rails(Kin/Therm) etc

Missile/Drone based ships kinda break this due to being able to choose their damage type based on the missiles/drones in use.

The two biggest pieces of advice that I would recommend you take to heart are:

1. NEVER fly what you can't afford to lose.

This means that if you are undocking in a destroyer, make sure you have enough money to replace that destroyer if/when it gets blown up. You always want to have a back up for when something goes wrong.

2. Find a player corporation to join.

Be picky, don't just join the first random corp that invites you. Make sure that what you want to do will fit the corporation's goals/aim and that they will fit your needs.

3. Bonus!: Mining is mind numbingly boring.

Unless staring at a screen for hours on end or going off afk sounds enjoyable to you, avoid mining like the plague. It isn't an easy path to money and riches.

Doing so requires high skills in gunnery and support skills, though; how about we try not to confuse the new player?

Yes I think it might require more than a week old pilot to pull this off. I think he was also referring to what would be more efficient to do them in. You probably can do level 4's in a Rifter but it doesn't make a lot a of sense unless you're uber bored. If you're that bored go do some PVP.

I doubt that you have the drone skills to make use of an algos. Try the catalyst. No drones to fuss with and it packs a serious punch. To be perfectly honest you will likely get a better tank on an incursus.
