Launcher forgets second account

I am using launcher v.2.1.573094 on Mac OSX 10.6

There is a down arrow by the account name entry field, indicating the ability to choose between accounts without typing, but the only name the launcher remembers is the first account I logged in with it. Does this qualify as a bug, or is it a feature?

How about losing the ability to log off to switch accounts from ingame? Working as intended? How is this more functional?

I see mention of launching the .exe file directly as a workaround, does that work the same on a Mac as on Windows? I am new to Macs and would appreciate some help restoring the functionality I used to have, TIA.
