What was the thought behind Antimatter Bullets?

Shouldn't they leave a huge explosion - a 10000 times Hiroshima explosion?
I am just asking because i find the animation of the hybrid turrets a little bit booring for what they are.
X-Large is firing bullets as huge as small car's at probably 30000m/s, this would end up in an explosion that probably annihilates a small planet.
On the other hand Lasers are visible - which they are not.

Yes lasers are cool - so as freaking antimatter bullets the size of a car traveling at 10% of the speed of light.
And those you cant even see.
Care to elaborate?

I've thought the same way, hybrid charges to be a brighter green to stand out and projectiles need visible tracers

Well i tried to do the math, but there is not much information on the size and charge. What casing is used and how thick it is.
Of course you would have to use some magnetic field, to prevent Antimatter from getting into contact with matter.

Hell, mebbe someone just added a nice flashlight to go on/off when the lazor fires Lol

Just be glad they didn't add giant warping pink hippoes LMFAO!!!

Marketing ploy. "Antimatter Charge" has a much better ring to it than "Super Duper Dense Proprietary Formula Alloy Hybrid Charge".

Ok. Lets have some fun with this question and suggest it's not our dimension? Completely different universal constants perhaps? How else to explain some of Eve's 'it's just a game' weird physics?

Well... considering the missiles ARE nukes in the multikiloton range (prolly even megaton range on capital missiles) is it so far fetched to have ammo with anti-matter?

The lore never actually tells us just how much AM there is in a projectile... it could be that the biggest capital rounds have just a tiny fleck in the middle, rest being the containment etc.

I assumed EVE space was more like a big dust cloud. You can see lasers going through smoke. Our spaceships lose speed when MWD is cut. You cannot make EVE true to real physics.

Exactly how much antimatter does the charge contain? I've always assumed that with the containment field and armored outer shell there's not really all that much AM in there. Keeps the production costs down when you add just enough to not make it an unstable bomb waiting in your cargobay to rip YOUR ship apart at the slightest bump.

Who cares? The mere fact that we have Lead hybrid rounds implies that anti-matter isn't the Alpha and Omega of Making Explosions.

So?

Doesn't mean we can't have more huge explosions.


It would really help with me getting my friends to play the game if I could show them huge booms all the time.

considering in ANY scifi universe, having more than just "a little" antimatter in any ONE location is considered universally BAD, i'd say that is highly plausible

also, as far as antimatter making "herp derp million times bigger explosion than hiroshima" thats assuming a bomb of approximate size to that bomb, which was ******* huge if you have ever seen pictures.

antimatter in and of itself only releases energy upon contact and obliteration of matter. the HUGE ASS EXPLOSIONS HERP DERP you see with nukes, only happen because the nuke explodes IN THE AIR, IN AN ATMOSPHERE because of the vacuum from the explosions interacting with the air to suck up debris and whatnot. an actual nuclear bomb explosion on the ground isnt much different in appearance from any other bomb, just alot of radiation afterwards.

same with antimatter, without a medium to interact with, al it does is release energy, which in and of itself is rarely a visual event, so without an atmospheric medium, you can see catastrophic damage to the target without huge fireballs and lights (there would still be some, but not nearly as much, it would be, if anything, 90% light, and thats assuming the wavelengths of radiation released by antimatter coming into cntact with the materials of our spaceship is emitted inside the visual range).

and as far as the guy mentioning lead-hybrid rounds, you CAN have those, lead just ads weight for a more physical punch on contact with the target, but the primary payload/medium for launch is held within the lead shell.
