Even if not, this point would only be a drop in the financial bucket of what went wrong there including costs of now long-ignored infrastructure and accumulated debt from other internal processes. And hidden payments, bribes, and funneled monies. Ad infinitum.

Politicians neex to get paid too, if you pay them pennies in a culture like Americas what kind of people do you think will go for it? Politicians see the rest of the public sector abqndon the notion of civil service and get paid "their fair share" too. We have a similar outrage with MPs over here 65k in London, center of global finance and capitaliam doea not stretch far. Especialy when other civil servents in admin positions are paid double that. Personaly I say a progressive tax system with the money earmarked for infrastructure development, not general consumption.

Also, they need to look at all the Corporations based in Detroit that avoid paying taxes and "super-fund" their CEO's.

I'm sure there is enough money involved on those 2 points to have saved the City.

we have similar issues here (with politician pay & corporate tax dodging)

public sector workers here are, for the work they do, quite low paid
nurses, firemen, police, soldiers have had minimal pay rises, pay freezes and when it's all taken into account, with inflation, the rising cost of living, they have had a pay cut.

yet our mp's (also public sector employees) are saying they need a minimum £6k pa increase .. a full 30% is what they are really after
they fraudulently claim expenses
they receive 'gifts' from private corporations & financial instutions (aka bribes/back handers)
'gifts' that they for a large part don't declare

amazon & starbucks have been underpaying their tax bill for years, using clever accounting to give the impression that their uk based operations run at a loss ....
F.O.
if they really ran at a loss, they'd pull the plug and go where profits are made, but no, they still operate here, so the operation must be profitable

our mp's do nothing. not that they received an undeclared starbuck or amazon funded 'gift' of course
sadly we're catching you up
at least your allowed to legally own a firearm, our mp's feel so much safer here, because we can't.

easy solution to detroits ecomomic malaise ... turn it into one big massive prison ! ..it might cost a few bucks to throw a few walls up to keep the cons in ..and a few guard towers here and there ...but a bit of electric fencing should keep the cost low ... plus you should get a bit of a federal hand out !

just think of the cost savings for the nation as a whole ...no more this regional prisons malarkey and transferring prisoners from state to state ...no more con- air Big smile

escape from Detroit !!! ...I cant wait for the movie Bear

im joking BTW

but he he ..its allways an option

Is the police force going to be privatised?

Omnicorp shares are up following the announcement.

And I the UK I feel maybe 110-120k would be about right for an MP, or cut down on headteacher and GP pay to take into account MPs. Personaly I saw the latter, keep in mind the after tax rate they get to keep and what they earn before taking the job. One of the panel from Labour at the last Question Time (Americ needs something like that, they did ola one off in Washington in 2008) pointed out she took a 30k paycut to become an MP from being in the NHS.

They also sell Telescreens to see if their advertiskng is working, to try and tailor targeted advertising. And as a gamesconsole, hell the item of british horror even described the creepiest part "can even see your heartbeat" as a feature.

Nope. Hardly any. There are many 'security firms' that provide guards for private property of one sort or another, but they are not regarded as "police".

Actually they receice the same training and qualifications in most cases, and can be deputised and respond to dispatches if noone else is around.

Yes we have private security currently patrolling much of the city since the DPD is largely refusing to operate and yes, they're also covering the neighborhoods where not everyone can pay. Crime rate is down dramatically and the downtown area is a haven for young people who haven't bought into the propaganda narrative. I live just out of downtown and commute into work on a bike (the crotch rocket variety) and it's safer now than it was a decade ago when the police presence was ubiquitous.

Sorry to break up the hurf blurf about how tragic it is for state parasites to loose their hard-stolen money/jobs, but for the average working Detroit resident and businessperson this is a renaissance. We've been miraculously freed of a whole lot of angry unionized pricks and their political masters and real economic growth is starting to take place in earnest.

Of course, as we can see here, the popular national opinion is that we need all these parasites to come back. So despite all the evidence to the contrary I fully expect the minions of theft to return just as quickly as they can, but in the mean time those of us who work for a living will be enjoying our reprieve from local oppression and the rewards that come with it.

Oddly enough it seems like you don't need a badge and state mandate to kill with impunity to prevent crime. Whodathunk it?

Look, a republican parasite attempts to mimic a free-market position!

Sorry, anyone who claims that public-housing being vacant and various other atrociously inefficiency public programs being scrapped is a bad sign doesn't have a leg to stand on when they criticize democrats. The fact of the matter is, while the republicans were more responsible with their parasitism, they were just as interested in keeping the gravy-train going. The few republicans we had around here were all working hand-in-glove with the dems.

Republicans talk a good game, but when they get in office they're no better than the free-wheeling socialists on the left.

This really isn't a left-right situation it's a "I work for a living," vs. "I tell you what to pay me and you follow my orders because you belong to me, I am your master," situation.

Usualy the case when it comes to dealing with a government. Different flags, party names, diffirent moustache or language. All the same.
