Have a look into Vengeance. Really good Amarr t2 frig with nice cap bonus (Makes active tanking easier) and some extra DPS from rockets.

Rockets is good weapon system when you are facing a AC or blaster boat. If you can maintain range between 7km - 10km your enemys damage is anemic and you hit his hull with your wpn systems full force.

Tricky part is to come up with a fit what makes you dictate range and not sacriface to much of your ships strengts. I recomend to put in a AB, web, scram, neut into untility high, full rack of rocket launchers and active armor tank.

Neut in utility high is your so cold backup module incase your foe has you pinpointed and you wana deactivate his web and pull some range..

I agree with Baron, but to answer part of your original question it's the hull that dictates what kind of boat it is. At its core, there are three weapon systems in the game: drones, turrets, and missiles. Turrets can then be divided further into projectiles, hybrids, and lasers. If the hull is a combat hull the bonuses will typically apply to one of these systems. Furthermore, each hull only has a certain amount of turret and missile hard points. This further declares a boat a missile or a turret ship.

Taking the drake as an example, the ship has 6 missile hard points and zero turret hard points. Further, it's weapon bonus from the hull applies to missiles so the drake is a missile boat.

Now I haven't mentioned rockets at all yet. That is because rockets is just the name of the small close range missile. On turret ships, it would be equivalent to light blasters or small autocannons. Anything that applies to missiles will apply to rockets.
