New Feature: "The medical transport ship" or MTS

This idea for some totally new content has 2 sides to it: a new ship and a new type of contract.

So here's the concept: a new subcapital ship with no combat capabilities at all. This ship has one unique ability... it can move people's jump clones around. This would be a truly unique ability, not something enabled by a clone vat bay module. This ship can only move jump clones between stations.

General ship features

This ancient ship was originally intended as a deep space colony vessel equipped with cryo tubes to enable its crew to survive the decades long trips between solar systems before jump gates were invented. It's designs were recently unearthed at an archaeological dig at one of the many failed colonies across New Eden that died out after the collapse of the Eve Gate. The Sisters of Eve were quick to install a warp drive and re-purpose the ship as a medical transport for modern day clones.

  • Similar size, speed and manoeuvrability to Blockade Runners, but no covert cloak.
  • Instead, this ship has a +2 warp strength as a role bonus like the Deep Space Transports.
  • No module slots.
  • Can accommodate up to 20 jump clones.

  • New Type of Contract
  • Courier my Clone!
  • Capsuleers can remotely request for one or more of their jump clones to be moved from location A to location B.
  • Either the clone owner or the clone mover must have the necessary standings to install a clone at the new location.

  • Prices would be set by players, including collaterals. If the ship is ganked, all the clones on board are lost, they cannot be "looted" by another MTS. I foresee a convenient new service for everyone accompanied by risks, rewards, scams, tears, etc... What do you guys think?

very very interesting.... I think this would fit more in the role of a new class of capital ship.

More a Carrier with no drone or logistics bonuses.

would also be cool to explore adding a ship bay, that can hold an x amount of ships. lets say 10 clones and 10 bc claas ships.

it wouldn`t do much other than be able to go through gates, and jump. with its cargo much like a JF, but with a more combat role

I know I would never do this. I'm sure they would get ganked regularly just for the hilarious killmails.

Titans already have a 5 million m3 SMA and the ability to fit a clone vat bay. I wanted to come up with something completely new.

Maybe bubble immunity would be more useful/appropriate than a Warp Core Strength bonus? But yeah this is awesome, the potential for tears alone Big smile

    The real question...

    If I gank it...

How many killmails do I get?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

just make clones a conractable item. add the ability to install existing clones from a station hangar into a stations medical bay remotely and you could just use normal haulers to do this. dont mean to stomp on your idea but i figure this would be a little simpler. still like the idea of clones as a usable item.
