One of the Xbox One developers did an AMA on reddit. He said this:

I wonder how much the NSA is subsidizing the Xbox One.

Not enough for it to be released in the Middle East, Russia or the flavour of the week of America's focus. Germany I think has a majority of their focus?

Nice to know Telescreens are becoming mainstream though in the US.
