A Better Idea

I’ve seen so much this week on General Discussion regarding “ganking”, “forced PvP” and “go play WoW” and all that so I thought I’d offer a better idea for Eve. I call it “Random Play Style Generator” or “RPSG” for short. While some of the concepts might be a little difficult for the CCP dev teams to code, I think it’s probably easier to create than say “beautiful nebulas” or “glass cannons” and will go a long way to alleviate what is the obvious problem of allowing Eve players to do what they like to do inside of the sandbox instead of conforming to what everyone else would like them to do.

How RPSG Works:

The basic concept is to introduce randomization into the play styles of Eve players to prohibit them from playing along the way they enjoy playing and force them into a newer, better play style. For example, let’s say player A is sitting alone in a gravimetric site whilst player B uses a CovOps ship to scan him down. Player B warps in Player C who ganks Player A and uses Player B to scoop up whatever loot Player A left behind. This is all well and good.

What happens next is what is new. Concord doesn’t immediately warp in and counter-gank Player C. Instead what happens is called a “Randomization Event”:

Player A is automatically sent to null space with a Rifter, a million ISK and over-use of the term “yarr”. He/She (ha ha “she”) is forced to become a null sec pirate until the next randomization event (RE hereafter) and must find a target to ransom in order to initiate the next “RE”. Successful ransoming leads to the next RE, while unsuccessful attempts are automatically highlighted in a new Eve discussion forum titled “I Failed To Broaden My Horizons”.

Player B is automatically de-cloaked, sent to low-sec and forced to run a multi-national mining corporation entirely from within the corp’s home station (the undock button will be removed for this player until the next RE). Player B is forced to stay in charge of said mining corp until he successfully argues over taxes, mining bonuses or skill compositions with at least three (3) subordinate players, in at least three (3) separate languages. Once he does this, it spawns an “RE”. Bonus ISKs will be awarded to the player if he makes at least 5 corp members rage quit.

Player C is automatically forced into the middle of a Level 3 “When Worlds Collide” mission with an armor tanked Caldari ship and pulse lasers. This effectively “noob-izes” Player C and he/she cannot spawn another “RE” until he successfully calls for and obtains help from a random individual in local chat. Player C will earn bonus LP if the responding player comes to his aid in a shield-fit Noctis armed with ‘Arablest’ Cruise Missile Launchers and zero ammunition. This then spawns another “RE”.

I think this will solve the problem of all the tears centered around “He doesn’t play the way I do and I don’t like what he’s doing” and perhaps will bring some fresh ideas to Eve.

-OR-

Perhaps people could worry less about the “other guys” and explore more on their own other ways to enjoy Eve within its current framework. Like, for example, high sec miners learning what that pesky directional scanner is used for.

I welcome flames and other ideas for “REs” in reply to this thread.

You see, people play this game to escape life and enjoy lols, rather than be forced into doing something they don't want to and not having fun like life does. Capiche?

Are you going to make a tally of all the people that don't read the post all the way to the bottom and just post a knee-jerk reaction to the first part?

I am guessing this sounded a lot funnier in your head.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Perhaps it did sound funnier in my own thoughts... lol.

Bottom line is I am sick of hearing, "boo hoo you don't play Eve the way I do and the way you play makes my fanny hurt".

This idea is terrible and would force me to play the game the way you want me to play it. Sad

Seriously, GBTW.

I suggest taking some 1200mm artillery and doing something about it. Or a large sum of cash or a large sum of wit and guile.

I totally thought you were serious until the bit about launchers on a Noctis.

Actually I thought it was a funny way to make your point, +1'd

All 3 players should be warped into a system in Jovian space without their ships. The only escape is to successfully communicate with the Jovians and become their supreme leader, kill the other two by ramming your pod into theirs, or making one of the others ragequit.

I read it to the bottom. Didn't lol; wouldn't read again.

new RE...

OP finds himself in a new Clone Alpha?

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
