Anathema for defensive and offensive FW plex

Hello all!

I am pretty new to the game, but have already tried a lot of different playstyles and I am sure which way to go in my eve career. I want to be part of FW for amarr!

What I dont want is to fit one of the usual 2-3 ships and fly around like 90% of all the others, I want somethng different! SO I figured out this plan and I really want some comments on the possibility of it.

My plan was: I want to fit an Anathema for solo plexing. This will not be the only thing I want to do, I want to fly a "normal" frigate as well, but I really like the Anathemas looks and the playstyle it could offer, alongside with the possibility to hold on to a ship for a long while, whilst gaining LP.
I want it to have the good cloaking device ofcourse. I also need some decent dps to take on offensive plexing, hopefully to medium size PLEX? My plan is to sit ready for cloaking when someone gets in, then cloak and estimate if I can take the person out when he enters, while he is unaware of my presence. Same goes for defensive. Find a mission runner or sit in a plex and wait for a frigate to engage the npc, and once he is damaged, spring on him like a trap :D

- So is this possible? How would the fits look for this, as I need some dps. And waht skills besides the skills to fly this thing do I need? I hope you guys have some good ideas!

If that is your plan you would probably be better of with a rocket fit stealth bomber. The dps is weak, but so is the dps from a cov ops frig. Unlike a cov ops frig, the stealth bomber doesn't have any targeting delay after de cloaking. A word of warning though. Neither are very good pvp frigs in this context and it takes some game knowledge to pull it off.

If you are really set on fw pvp you would be better served in the long run by fitting some standard cheap pvp frigs and going in balls deep, living by your mistakes.

You know you can just d-scan the plex and see what ships are inside it?

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Just don't do it.

  • The Anathema is a T2 ship and thus cannot enter novice plexes at all.
  • It cannot kill the NPC destroyers that fly in small plexes, so offensive plexing is out. (These things have a great tank - 150dps is suggested, and even with T2 damage mods in every possible place, the Anathema only does 97.5. It can get a bit higher with faction mods, but that starts to be an aweful amount of ISK for something an T1 frig can do better.)
  • You cannot advance the timer while cloaked, so you'll have to be uncloaked most of the time.
  • The Anathema isn't made for fighting - even T1 frigates will have more tank and more damage than you - the only thing that might give you an edge are the 4 mid-slots, which give you some options. Something like MWD+Scram+2xECM could allow you to scram&jam a T1 frigate for long enough to kill it, if luck is on your side. But that's pretty niche and a cheap Griffon would do a much better job at that.
  • As you cannot enter novice plexes, you have to fight against T2 frigs & destroyers, which is even more of an uphill battle.
  • D-scan will tell you when someone arrives, so between warping off or cloaking, there isn't any advantage for cloaks. (And then, T1 frigs can also fit cloaks, if you like to sit and watch.)

OP: You've over thought it my friend.

Rather than explain the many reasons it's not such a great idea, I suggest you get stuck in in a T1 frig and it will all fit into place.

Read this: http://www.gamerchick.net/2013/01/the-beginners-guide-to-faction-war.html To learn the basics and get a feel for FW, Then try some 'outside the box' ideas.

There are indeed many great 'alternative' ideas for successful plexing and combat: Battle Herons can be a pain.

As a final thought though, avoid fits which annoy people, like stabbed, cloaky Ventures, or only flying kiting Condors. The WZ is supposed to be fun, so try to add to that, not detract from it.

Take The Empresses Shilling Matey! You wont regret it! (Unless you meet me in Derelik of course :))

These are ships that would do a great job at your plan. As is, it will just never work. I would take the advice provided above.

Thanks guys, I can see how I need to adapt the plan, or find some other way.

But thanks anyway!
