One sides wars

I was looking at corps/alliances and noticed that some of the wars between alliances are seriously one sided. Most corps I see are farmed by a pirate alliance. One war I looked at had the pirate alliance killing like 200 trillion worth of ships vs 2 trillion. How does this happen? I can't think of the names of these pirate alliances, but it is the same 2-3.

It can be for various reasons:

1. flying around is really expensive battleships/ships make you look like a juicy target
2. smack talking in local thinking that they can't do anything
3. bored highsec pvpers who find a corp that keeps loosing ships in dumb ways, and so their friends get in on the action too.
4. they were hired to attack these corps because they pissed someone else off, or had something they wanted (like a good moon location in empire, or domination of belts in a system)

etc...

In general it tends to be highsec corps filled with new players who fly expensive ships they don't know how to handle, and lose them in stupid ways, that make them very attractive targets so the more famous corps/alliances constantly dec them. Some are hired to dec them, but it isn't that common in highsec.

Wars in highsec are never even and almost always one sided. If not numbers, they are out gunned in experience. Even in lowsec and 0.0 it is rare to see an even fight, it is almost always a blob, escalation of forces, or just simple whelp. It is just a fact of life with Eve Online, and most of us who have been playing a long time (It has been 5 years for myself) have adapted and gotten used to it. Many of us use our experience to exploit it too.

I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart.

All of the above, and if you find yourself in a fair fight, both you and your opponent have done something wrong.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Just wanted to make that clear.

And it happens because they stack the odds as heavily in their favor as they possibly can. Elite high sec pvpers tend to be the equivalent of an adult starting a fight club in his local grade school so that he can be the undisputed champion.

More like starting a fight club in the local grade school for the rich and spineless, so they'll get easy wins and/or lots of moniez.

I can confirm with relative confidence I enjoy poking out people eyes even when they can't see.

Aren't one sided fights against merchant shipping kind of the hallmark of piracy?

This happens because the victim allows it to happen. Grave losses in the billions are often caused by undocking shiny things that should remain docked during war, such as a freighter or a bling mission boat. Either the victim is derping and doesn't even realize a war is going on or thinks himself safe because there are no WT's in local at the time. Corps with a good protocol for wardecs don't suffer these losses much. 100% of them can be prevented using public contracting or neutral hauling alts.

War declarations are rarely even matches. Most folks in Eve arent really looking for fair fights. They are looking for wins.
