Button on my neocom to open items by default (not ship hold)

Hey .. I was just about to suggest a "doable things" option to let me move my neocom to the right side of my screen because i happen to be right handed and prefer not to drag my mouse across my body.

But I figured out I could do that NOW ? (i was gone from the game when they improved the neocom)

I was also gone when they adjusted the inventory. I'v'e figured out some neet things I can do with it and I kind of like lot about it ..BUT I DON"T like the effort it takes to just open my items hanger... almost always mutiple clicks.. I can easily open my active ship with a double click on the sliver of open space i leave when my orders and market and order input and maybe a few item info windows are open.

But I keep losing my damn items,, and I very frequently want to see what is in my ship and what is in my station hold at the same time . It is really cool that I can drag and open the other container tabs etc.... that helps when I don't need my PRIMARY desire my station hanger items (I'd go 1) hangar items 2) active ship hold 3) ship hangar. I'd ideally put three buttons at the bottom of my neocom that would independantly open each of those in a new window

Can I do this already and just haven't figured out the interface?

Shockedplease tell me you have EVE hooked up to your Wii controller or something, 'cause otherwise that seems...odd.

?

I'm sitting at my desk, I've got my keyboard in front of me and the center of my mouse say 5 inches diagonlly off the right front corner.

My mouse sensitivity is set so that a wiggle of my wrist will bring it from the right edge to the middle of my screen.

Yes, I was exagerating tiny bit.. i only need to bring the mouse over a few inches toward the center of my body, but it is enough so that i need to change my posture a bit or pick the mouse up and replace it and move it again if i happen to have my keyboard closer to me.

I also do a lot of things on my computer with my feet up on my desk... the position of a true executive ; )

with my feet on my desk i move my keyboard cloer to me so it would take a lot more posture changing or lifting and dropping of the mouse to get the pointer all the way to the far right of the screen.

It's just a lot easier having the active parts of most uI's on the right side for me with the visual aspects towards the left middle.

I don't mind things like a logg out button or a file save button way to the top left... that is an occasion of trasition between major tasks, not part of the manipulation of a given activity.

but forget the right left thing.

Can I put a button on my neocom that opens my item bay , and not my ship bay first ?

I haven't figured out how ?

I guess I figured it out sort of .

If I open the item bay separately by dragging it out of the main inventory box ....

.. and if I'm sure to Minimize the box, not close it , a button for minimized item bay does appear on my neocom.

Still .. it seems kinda dumb when there is a super easy way to open my bay .. double clicking which takes way less mental and visual effort than dragging my mouse on top of the items button... that if I click on the items button I don't get what is already really super easy to open.. but the next most inportant thing.

I cam move my mouse pointer from one side of my screen to the other and back with just an inch of movement in my wrist...

and that's on normal sensitivity.

If I were you I would invest in a new mouse as the one you are using is a pile of doggy pooBig smile

Isn't there a key for it.. alt G?
But you can drag the items bay on to the neocom from the submenu of the 'E' thing at the top of the neocom.

This is pretty much what I was gonna say and btw being able to put it on the left has been there for the greater part of the past 4 years. That's nothing new.

I have very good mouse.

I work on spread sheets and leases and stuff and I don't want my cursor moving 24 inches at a tremor of my wrist.

But that's neither here nor there.

I've explained a UI I think works best for this particular right handed person who uses his desk the way I do...

and like most idiots on the forums you're looking for red herrings..

find one thing that is wrong with what i said and talk about that instead of imagining that for various reasons (or various spellings or various methods of using poor gramar) and pretend you don't see an aspect of what i'm sayin that you understand would be conventient for me and others

learn to signal to noise.. ignore the noise and answer the signal

(i've taken the courtesy to explain how i work at my desk and you and others are telling me to work differently on my desk instead of trying to answer how to do something that is well within the general current UI as it is written. There is a button for inventory but it opens the wrong part of inventory. I did find I could move the bar to the right on my trade characters. I can move buttons around on the UI.. it is just an incremental little thing that would make my life a lot more convenient (really it has a fair bit to do with eyesight.. its a bother to focus and refocus eyes.. often needing to lean forward a bit to see if i'm hitting fitting or which ship or hanger iconn I'm hitting from 30 inches away when my glasses are set for a focus point of 14 to 17 inches.)

My previous reply was intended as a bit of banter, but I guess you have not trained the skill "Sense of Humour" yetBig smile

Anyways you can open your combined inventory and then left click (hold) on item hanger and drag it out to a separate window that will get its own button on the neocom.

When you don't need it on screen just minimise the window, the button will disappear if you close the window (click the x)

This also works for any other storage window in the combined inventory.
