Faction standing in regards to mission running

On my main, I do missions for Minmatar and I often have to pass up Amarr kill missions so I can avoid the inability to enter Amarr space without being shot/webbed/scrammed by the navies...

...but I won't turn down storyline missions. So as a result both Amarr and Caldari standings are circling the drain and I'm pretty sure the next storyline mission I get, I will be under -2.0 for Amarr faction... which sucks...

I know Diplomacy helps, but it can only help so much. I also know I can keep all faction standings positive at the same time but that involves doing 16 missions for a faction, do the storyline, then go to another faction, repeat forever. I am not interested in that, I only want to do missions for Minmatar only. So I am not sure how to approach this.

My question to M&C is ... is there any way to actually keep my standings up without doing the missions for another faction? I almost feel like paying people to share their storyline mission turn-ins with me while I'm in Minmatar space that way I get higher standings without moving or doing missions for another faction, but I don't know if that'd work.

The standings gain and loss algorithm is actually very kind to people with negative standings. 1 combat standings mission for amarr/caldari will reverse months of the negative effects running minmatar.

I have a dominix that has sat in Amarr space since 2009. Flew over to it in the blockade runner with some ammo. dusted it off, moved it to a better agent given that even agents have changed since i last used it, changed the rigs and put DDAs on it and ran 32 missions, and I don't really expect I'll need it again until next year.

No go. If you run anti-faction missions, you have to raise standings with opposing factions somehow. And you can't do it by sharing storylines; faction gains can't be shared.

Basically, in the long run you pretty much have to bounce around to keep everyone happy. Cosmos standings gains will help once, and I've found that the SoE arc can pretty much hold you steady against the occasional kill mission. But it does require bouncing around.

Obligatory fly-by link to The Plan, just in case you're not already aware of it. Pick out the parts that help you in your situation.

I might be wrong, but they don't shoot until you're under -5. I could also be wrong, but I don't think you can get under -5 without ship kills, so derived losses alone will never get you there. Approaching -5, one tutorial mission would probably give you enough leeway for a few more storylines.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Oh wow, I got mixed up with security status mechanics. I just looked up standing mechanics and...

"However, if it gets too low (-5.00 or below), you run the risk of being attacked by that faction's Navy, much like low security status can get you in trouble."

So you are correct! But what do you mean "derived losses" ? I would think storyline missions will get me under -5 eventually.

Derived standings = when you gain faction standing with one, you gain a bit with their allied, and lose a bit with the enemy factions etc.

The big ones are Caldari/amarr and Min/gal

And when you have diplomacy at V after skills you will be at -2.01 to amarr, run a single lvl 1 storyline for them and you are above -2 and able to run missions for any amarr agent you have the standings for.
