Just a quick question for you all.

I built myself 10 slashers to try them out since I haven't flown them since all of the changes. So far, things have been ok, will the occasional meltdown by scorch lasers and drone boats.

What I would like to know is how do you slasher pilots deal with rail fitted ships using javelins? Seems they hit me a max scram range and also if I orbit close and with the bonuses to javelin ammo, my TD doesn't provide much help. I've just been able to look an identify rails vs blaster so I load the right script but now the ammo selection is getting me.

I use standard scram/web/ab/TD setup.

Thanks for any input!

Trie to get under his guns. Below 1.5km mark the 125mm javelins damage is really anemic. You have AC´s so you can´t out range him.

Also, you use TD with tracking speed script right ? Slasher sig radius is around 35 so rail hybrids do have some hard time to hit you. Expecially when you have TD on them.

Also it is good idea if you are in speed tanking setup to avoid ships what has Tracking bonuses.

Javelin gives a 25% bonus to tracking. However, they're still railguns. 1.25 * **** is still ****. 75mm gatling rails might be a slight problem as they actually track pretty well, but you should be able to break even them.

I'm guessing you're overshooting your target or something. Assuming you establish a proper orbit it should be really hard for a railboat to hit you. If the ship has both a tracking bonus ~and~ uses Javelin ~and~ is using 75mm gatling rails then I could see it becoming a problem, though.

One thing to check is your EW support skills. Tracking disruptors are much less effective if you don't have the proper skill(s) trained up; make sure you didn't forget one. Another is make sure you actually have a tank - DCII + small AAR or 200 plate. Tracking disruptors can mitigate the need for some tank but certainly not all of it.

If you're fighting a good pilot in a Rail Incursus or Comet just disengage.

You're going to die. To date in a rail Incursus i've probably killed over 40 slashers and none of them has ever even been close to killing me. And i don't even use Javelin.

The thing you need to realize is that you need to be considerably faster that your opponent to get under your guns. The speed difference between a Slasher and the Incursus is simply not high enough to get under its guns. All he has to do is burn in a certain direction and you will have to follow him and eventually your transversal will be pretty damn close to 0.

TL:DR. All competent small rail ships will kill you (Except an atron, you can probably kill an atron)

You can kill them but you'll need do some manual orbiting, which is easier said than done so takes a bit of practice. The slasher does have the straight line speed to do this. If you hit the orbit button you are first, handing over control of your ship to your opponent, which he can exploit to drop transversal, and second, it eats into your speed as you are constantly turning.

Use an ancillary armour repairer to burst tank your way in. Once you're close the dps drops. Avoid Atrons they have the speed to stop you from getting close and the falloff bonus to get past your optimal range disruption.

Unless the opponent is bad, No he can't.
