I can only manage about 2 - 3 games on Dust before the control system makes me log in utter frustration.

I can forgive most problems with Dust but the horrible control system is something which should of been priority number 1

~5k players during peak hours means there are ~50k players total. I wouldn't call that "dying" because there are many games which have same amount (or even less) players than that and they are still being developed and supported. Examples: APB Reloaded, Star Conflict, Defiance.

Anyway I hope as soon as Dust team will be dissolved CCP will have resources to continue development of WoD sandbox + better EVE expansions.

I dont suggest that aimbots/ESP doesnt make an FPS game not successful.

The PC FPS games dont have direct monetary consequences like this one.

Millions of people play FPS games on PC and thousands of them cheat. A good hax/aim/fps would be a topseller for Dust514 on PC, trust me.

If you dont think they exist, you are dead wrong.

Console games are not cheat free, but it is a whole lot more complicated.

Imagine if one side was all using aimbots? That could effect the in game EVE stuff...

bad news

carry on

And yet there are absolutely tons of successful FPS games on pc which have this problem. It's all very well to be glad that console games lack this but who cares if nobody's playing the game?

I was only speaking specifically about PC FPS game aimbots/ESP/hax giving something like a 10,000% advantage against someone else playing legit.

All the other tools and bots and whatever else you are referring to in the sandbox games are another issue and it isnt relevant to the discussion about Dust 514 players gaining an edge over each other.

You are right though EVE has crazy botting problems but meh related to Dust -

******* hell buddy, you're playing Eve and you're bothered by stuff like that?

Eve has had more "hax" than you've had hot dinners and I dunno whether its escaped your attention but there's been tens of thousands of "bots" in Eve over the years. Possibly hundreds of thousands.

This is Eve. Everyone assumes everyone else is cheating. Sometimes they're right Twisted

Sony's Planetside 2 is very similiar to Dust and it has record profits.

All this dogma nonsense about the PC as a poor marketing format is ludicrous.

Not sure how record for an FTP SOE title compared to the gaming community as a whole, though how many SOE titles of this nature have had real, strong console pushes for fair comparison?

FPS console games are not known for having long lifespans. There are not like PC games where, when the developer decides to move onto the next game and stop hosting their product any longer, the players themselves can simply start hosting games on their own (read: Team Fortress). In the console world when the developer loses interest in funding the host server then it is over. Done. El Finito. Go buy the next roman numeral in the franchise and hope it lasts more than six months this time.

So with all that being said, anyone who purchases any console based FPS game should know that the moment they lay down their credit card that they are investing in what is, essentially, a mayfly.

The question at hand is why would anyone in their right minds play Dust over Planetside 2, a game with FAR more polish and far less bad mechanics, shooting, bullcrap, and basically things that make the game unenjoyable.

This.

Having it PlayStation only was so ******** I can't find further words for it...

Basically that game requires a large number of people. Hey lets release it only for one console, it will be great!

Dang. I had hoped the forum mods would have the sense to keep "DUST is dying" in the DUST Forums, so we only had to bear with "EVE-O is dying" in the Eve Forums.

If dust was on PC, I would play it between ganks.

I am just here to snuggle and do spy stuff.

would be awesome if dust had maps(possibility) to fight inside our stations/POS/pve spawn titans and such so eve players can influence battles shooting/reping/hacking said objects

Say evacuating civis or securing docking bays so eve player can bring stuff in side etc...

Point being i think eve link would be more potent feature if we are both in space..eve game mechanic don't allow much more than peeing from orbit.

Normally I'm not very positive, but to say Dust is dying, is a premature prognosis. The way Dust interacts with EVE is a hugely different egg. The possibilities are quite frankly endless. When you have a 1st person shooter, any 1st person shooter, but, within a server space setting like EVE, the additional interaction is infinite.

I wanted to quote Mina, in that these are great examples of just how a bunch of 'dusters' could change the course of a battle / fight. i can only imagine the tears of a Titan pilot to get attacked by a swarm of dustpods.. dust pods could be some kind of capsule that allows a dust bunny to eventually enter a platform like a titan or capital ship. A number of vital systems can be sabotaged whilst inside said ship. So really, you'll need bunnies IN the ship, just incase bunnies do gain access. Once inside it'll be possible to disengage engines, or weapon systems for abc amount of time, or in extreme cases, ultimate hacking skills could see the ship self destruct activate, which would require ally bunnies to disengage, by appropriating the relevant system.

I'd love to see transport ships be able to ... transport dust bunnies, take a horde of gunslingers to a planet facility or ready to eject and board that Goon Avatar.

Ship, Station, Planet side facility, POS.... whatever... bunnies become a VITAL, yet deadly ally / enemy, one you never underestimate. It expands possibilities beyond imagine, yet it's all there.. it's already possible.

EDIT: Additional: I forgot to mention, BRING IT TO PC, so that risk adverse, crap ship PvPers like myself, that have no role in LOW / NULL, will suddenly find a reason to exist. hey I'm rubbish at flying ships, but I sure as hell know how to shoot.. EVE CV, acclaimed commando squad leader... brilliant.

it should have been an actual part of EVE instead of a separated game.

Why didn't they listen.
Who actual believed an F2P FPS console game with incredibly nonsense name and the necessity to training skills would have had any chance to attract millions and bind them forever....

I really hope plan B was to integrate Dust into EvE if the initial get rich fast plan failed.

CCP was told they couldn't do this or that in the past and jet they proven these people wrong.

It probably really is dying tho. I'd like to play it, but I can't buy a PS3 just for it, and I won't buy a PS3 when I can wait few months and buy a PS4. And not play DUST on it.
