and discution in general about a rail buff: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=257720&find=unread

Big investment from some one in jita to buy all that up, are the prices gong to jump up if there is a buff will the ferox jump up as well as a rail buff would make it a more viable ship

To be fair, if the buff is significant enough to make Medium Rails increase in demand and therefore price, he could very well make a decent profit off of his speculative trading. The potential flaw I can see in his plan would be the timing, as the change hasn't even hit the testing server yet, and as such people can produce enough railguns to flood out the market and preempt a spike in demand.

I think the dates being floated around is Aug 20th or 27th for Odyssey 1.1. The tournament ships Dev Blog said based upon their release schedule they can get the ships out about 3 weeks after the end of the tournament. That is a lot of time for people to start producing.

Confirming I made good ISKies out of tech 2 plates when they were first buffed. It's possible to make ISK out of this sort of thing.

You just want to avoid buying everything, and instead buy only the cheaper products. Then use various tricks to get people to unload their stack and sell you more at the lower prices (e.g. post two sell orders for 1 of the item in dangerous lowsec stations close to a hub, that's at a 5-10% undercut of hub price, wait for someone to 0.01 ISK you, then drop second lowsec order another 5%, then let them 0.01 ISK you again, then buy the entire stock of the competitior in the hub).

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Except they aren't buffed yet and probably won't be for a very long time and in the meantime everyone else is going to be producing them up the gazoo.

Does buffed mean increase in production cost? because that is the only thing that matters. Yes there could a small discrepancy in supply and demand for a short while, but it will get eradicated very quickly. I don't care if it becomes the most op weapon in all of EVE, It won't sell for much higher than it's production cost, it is called perfectly elastic supply, YAY.

It is only a good investment if production costs change also, which may happen, but betting on it blindly is as good as playing the roulette.

I think he has a good chance for medium profits if he dumps the stack the first day the buff is realeased. After all "speculation trading" has risks, this is one of them.

I wonder how much of that is change to the rail and how much is based on the ccp only implants he has?

Would be funny if it was all implant related
