I think it would be a cool idea for CCP to make a thread showing pictures before and after their new "graphic updates" that are coming on July 10th! I remember when Aion 2.0 came out (back when i was in that game), and they released graphic updates along with side by side pictures of the exact same thing, just one with the before graphics and one with the after..

I would love to see that as i anticipate July 10th coming! How about you guys!?!

This turned up in a Google search.

It's definitely a dev blog, but it doesn't say anything about a graphics update on the 10th. To be exact the blog states, that the reason system requirements are changing are:

Quote:
There are three important reasons for these changes:

First, some of the old hardware is or will soon be unsupported. For example, as of the R310 driver update NVIDIA’s minimum supported hardware will be the GeForce 8 series.

Second, the old hardware is difficult to find. If we cannot find the hardware to test our game, we cannot guarantee a smooth player experience.

Finally, EVE looks better than it did when we last updated these specifications, and some amount of that is due to more complex graphics. We cannot release more shiny and keep our performance the same in all cases. Note however that Windows min spec has changed relatively little; we make these graphical updates optional where possible.

The comments section also has dev reply which states, that:

Quote:
If you can play on 9 July than you can play on 10 July. There is nothing coming 10 July.

So again, what graphics update?

I probably should have explained the link better, but yeah. I noticed the dev blog about the system requirements changing (EDIT: on 10 July) which I assume led to some people believing a graphical update was going to follow.

People think raising the bar for minimum specs also means a graphics overhaul. Alas, this is not the case. This is just an update to ensure future updates can benefit from it, but for now... No graphical changes. Blink

they did say these changes would affect some peoples computers.. if the graphics were not changing at all, this would not have been stated, as if they could run it pre-10th, then they would be just fine post-10th.. i believe we will see some improvement to graphics... we will know in the next 48hours :)

Since they are upgrading the minimum requirements which means that people who are using computers that currently can barely run EVE (currently have the minimum requirements) will have to update their computers in order to run EVE. It does not have to mean a graphic update, simply that they are "weeding out" people who has older computers so that they will upgrade it now instead of having the same people yell and scream when a new patch comes out that contains graphic updates and they suddenly cant play anymore.

At least this would be my guess since i have not heard anything about any graphic updates coming anytime soon Smile

No. They said that "these changes will affect a small number of people".

That's an important difference. People will be affected, because previously they could ask CCP for help with client issues, while tomorrow CCP will simply reply "we are sorry, but your hardware is no longer supported, you can try to run it, but you are on your own."

As CCP Explorer noted:
Quote:
I would like to emphasize that this change now in minimum and recommended system requirements will not exclude any current hardware compared to the previous system requirements. In particular we are not making any changes on 10 July to the EVE Client that will prevent you from using your current computers.

This is making room for changes that will come in the future, but NOT tomorrow.

If you would like to compare a current portrait to a pre-Incarna one, you can use http://evefaces.com/ (unofficial site). However, this is of no relation to the current update of minimum hardware requirements.
