And be disapointed with constant freezes.
Really sad to see that the EVE client on MAC is that bad.

And when you search for answers, you realise that this problem has been going on since 2011..

Anyone else had friends give up on EVE because of this?

Fear not, good man... it only took 5 or 6 years for rockets to be made somewhat better. P

Once the new toilets, shag carpets and lava lamps are installed in the Captains Quarters, I'm sure the Mac client will be the very next thing to be fixed !

That's what you get for using a computer that has permanent training wheels.

Maybe he should get a Mac. I don't think cosmetics stores can run EVE properly.

Year six on the Mac client here. Works well enough, as long as you are aware of how the Cider wrapper changes the hardware requirements (triple the need for VRAM for instance).

And yes, It's “Mac”, short for Macintosh. You need more than a Media Access Controller to run EVE, and I don't think any Merchant Aircraft Carriers are still in service so you can probably not run EVE if you're on one of those…

It sorta works for me when I play (which is not often these days, sigh). For some reason I can no longer station spin What?. Deleted *everything* EVE related redownloaded, reinstalled and still no spin. Weirdly enough I can spin on the SISI client. Shocked

Anyway, yes it gobbles up loads of vRAM. Not running anything in the back like 3D renders or torrent clients helps keeping EVE stable.

Final note: it's been far, far worse.

Yeah this

You realize it turns off both CQ and station spin too right?

Problem is not Eve but rather Mac.

Mac PC's are awesome but rather "a" product for "a" specific customer category. Editors might as well not spend huge amounts of resources to make their stuff work with Mac but rather ask Mac to do the right thing and stop being snowflakes.
Being a snowflake brings a cost at some point, Mac customers not only pay hard their choice but also have to deal with the simple fact most editors work for general products rather than snowflakes because: benefits

Just a point of view.

Playing on the Mac since 2007. 15" Retina now. I can triple client windowed without any problems or this freezing you speak of.

Maybe you shouldn't be such a ******** troll, or your 'friend' shouldn't be trying to play EVE on a Mac that doesn't meet CCP's minimum requirements.

Never had an issue with the Mac client... probably don't know what I'm missing :)

Runs fine on MacPro, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air...

OK, it turns the laptops into small but effective heaters...
And I had to replace the MacPro's video card after it committed suicide by catching fire...

But apart from that... Love it :)
