Make the next major update primarily focused on improving the UI

As the topic states, this thread is to support and/or discuss the idea that a major title update should be dedicated to improving issues with the UI. Other changes are welcomed however the workload should be focused primarily around fixing the problems with the current interface.

Now everyone knows the UI in this game needs a lot of work, I'm not sure the devs themselves would even argue otherwise. Thus I don't think it's reasonable in the OP to discuss what specifically needs improvement, as the community can speak louder than one person.

The purpose of this is to support the notion of a title update dedicated to creating a more logical and consistent environment with the UI as a generality. We are asking the devs to sit down and review the design decisions with the UI as a whole. Please feel free to post up individual ideas however.

Example 1:
WASD allows you to warp, dock, etc to anything in the overview or selected in space.
However, WASD functions simply cease to work elsewhere, such as in "people and places" or through the route at the top left.

Example 2:
Nearly every last item on the screen can be moved where you please.
System info/route/mission info at the top left... cannot be moved.

This is what is meant by logical and consistent mprovements to the UI.

Lastly I ask we keep the ideas/complaints in this thread to things that would apply to most users and things that apply to the more basic functionality of the UI. Ask yourself: Does your idea start with, "it would make sense if..." or does it start with "it would be neat if...". If it's the latter, maybe make a different thread about it :P.

Thanks for reading and happy posting =).

Post up if you agree.

I disagree.

I think the next expansion's main priorities should be:
Priority:
1. T2 Rebalance
2. T2 Rebalance
3. T3 Rebalance
4. Capital Rebalance
5. Pirate Faction Ship Rebalance
6. Command Mechanics Rebalance (ie. Off-Grid Boosting change/nonchange)
Additional:
7. Fleet Mechanics (things like formation warp)
8. Drone Control Mechanics & UI
9. General UI
10. Corporate Structure, Roles, UI
11. Further remove legacy code and make the game more modern.
12. High Res texture pack "available"
13. do some garbage collection with the client - reduce install folder size

At fanfest, they demo'd some things like PIP and updated overview, but recently they've said those basically won't happen until hardware improves, since they are almost as bad as running a second client. CCP has some stuff for the UI planned, but I think the way people interact with one another (fleets, social, ships, etc) is a much more satisfying theme for an expansion than the way people interact with the client its self.

I disagree as well, EVE UI is really refined for it's purpose. This is very complex game with countless of functions, so some are in better shape than others, but in general UI is really well done.

And besides, it gets a lot of love in every update and expansion.

Having come from years of playing a game that has truly kept its UI modern this game's UI, as i have said before in other posts feels, like youre doing command line programming it is so primitive.

Unfortunately, i think a large portion of EVEs player base is just used to how antiquated it is and they don't realize it feels its full 10 years of age and needs an overhaul of epic proportions.

I wouldn't expect any serious upgrades to the UI though, CCP doesnt have the subscriber base to pay for even upkeeping the basic functions of this game, let alone be able to put serious money into EVE's UI.

If your game development philosophy revolves around catering to a niche market, it comes with a serious downside, you don't have much money to upkeep said game.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

You also fail to provide a single example of what actually is antiquated in EVE UI.

Also, source for CCP's income issues that prevent them from upkeeping the basic functions of this game?
