You don't want to be going climbing down them, unless you've got abseiling equipment and a three day supply of food for the hike back to the top.

I once got drunk and fell down my steps over in Polaris 1-1. I was falling for 45 minutes before CCP Phantom found me at the bottom, a giggling, drunken mess, covered in my spilled Mojito.

And yet presumably we climb up it every time we dock, and down every time we undock.

I know CCP wants to get rid of all the black screens And loading bars during transitions. Right now there is a big one: If you dock with CQ on you get a fuzzy image and a big "LOADING" message. Maybe you should fix that transition too.

How about: Move the pod to where the "undock" button is on the balcony. The pod itself becomes the undock button. When I undock my avatar walks into the pod and the doors close. Bonus points if you show the nanites building the flight suit on me as the disassemble my normal clothes. (If im too far away from the pod to get there in a timely manner, at least have the avatar start walking in the right direction.)

On docking you could show a movie of the pod flying over to the balcony, opening, then the avatar walking out.

... looks forward to the day when a PILOT in EVE can actually do all that in Station, and more, with INCARNA as it was meant to be.

It would be cool to see the actual details of the pod where we spend 99% of our game time. And have a chance to see the actual instrumentation that allows us to connect to our ship systems via the pod.
As for flight suits versus being naked, anyone ever watch Neon Genesis Evangelion? They had to wear their plug suits, sit in their pilot chairs within the plug and then get submerged in that LCL(?)gel/fluid solution as part of their life support, etc. So, maybe that would be a nice QOL feature sometime down the road to look into?

Actually imo there are better things they could do to improve immersion.

If I had to sit through a dock/undock animation everytime I imagine it would become more than a bit tedious.

Kind of like how the jumpgate animation is more tedium than anything... Sad

The placement of the pod always seems illogical to me, Why would such a vulnerable item and a vulnerable moment be placed on the outside like that.

Well, in the station I view it as a place to take the pretty pictures of all things personal. So if I want to take full screenies or videos of my ship collection and all the details, that's the place to do it.

In WoW we don't even have a home to do that stuff. I have to travel to a remote location to make such videos (and with CRZ now that's a chore not getting it ruined by a passerby). And EvE you're not safe setting up some great backdrop scenes outside the station.

The pod wasn't even supposed to go there in the first place.

It was going to be moved to a special 'capsule room' similar to the original Incarna teaser. Unfortunately, CCP never finished WiS, so the capsule room (along with the rest of WiS) was never built. The pod is going to sit there for a long time now.

Also, I doubt CCP will touch CQ with a ten foot pole now. They're too terrified of losing subscriptions.

You see this ship right here? Take a good look at that ******* ship. The ladder leading down to the pod got nothing on the ladder you have to climb to get inside this boat. Look at the pod. Now back to this ship. This ship is in the ******* ocean. Now back at the pod. It's in a station. Thats right, I climbed the ladder in that ship so many times when I grew up, so don't lecture me on no steep ladder bro.

I never figured out how are we supposed to get into that pod; what's that semitrasparent thing? It seems to be blocking access; are you supposed to crawl under it? I want a capsule embark manual, they didn't give me one in the tutorialSad

Indeed. That particular one (RS14) was in my family for some 60 years before it was sent to a museum a couple years back. Many fond memories.

Once there was a bug that spawned me next to the pod. It was pretty cool but I couldn't get back up the stairs and had to enter the hangar then get back to the CQ.

That area was fully rendered so I don't know why we can't go up and down the stairs to the pod.

Hey CCP how difficult would it be to enable us to walk up closer to our pod in CQ? I can see the model down below the deck but just can't get close enough to it even though there are stairs. Any chance you can enable us a closeup view of the POD with the hatch open?

Please +1 if you want to see the opened pod up close. Thanks!

Well ofcourse they have to be steep, how else are you going to dry off that pod fluid after you exit the ship. Makes sense now....

45 minutes? Really?

Can you MOVE the pod UP instead and just place it next to the railing? Might be an easier solution. You have the models just translate in Y up and X+ and maybe a little bit closer in -Z.

Every day in every way I improve my skills and get better.

I doubt they got walking up steep steps working. Then they moved or fired all the coders who could get it working. SO the best way now would be to move the pod.

I wonder if the devs have any idea how annoying it is for them to pop in and make a joke out of threads. HI DEV, you guys are being jerks. (It's eve, get used to it ) Like, I get the light hearted joking and it's fun often times, but you need to temper that drunken frat boy crap with some reasoned responses.

Just saying. Also, on topic, I would REALLY like to be able to walk down to my pod. It's really crappy that you can't for no apparent reason.

Now that I think about it.... Isn't the pod suppose to be full of goo? Then the pod should not be at the bottom of some stairs. It should be docked with your bathroom. Go into bathroom. Get undressed, and take a shower. Get in the pod. It fills up with goo. Go fight pirates. Come back. Get out of pod. Goo drains out (pay cleaning service company to clean and service your pod). Take a shower and get dressed. Go into apartment.

What a hassle. Give me flight suits, helmets with oxygen breathing gear.

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.
