Has CCP deliberately nerfed the Market Price of COSMOS Skill Books?

Just over a month ago these skill books (ie: Sleeper Technology, Talocan Technology, Yan Jung Technology, Takmahl Technology) use to retail for approx 100m each now they are selling, atm, for approx 20m and the price is still dropping like a stone.

Eg: http://imageshack.us/a/img90/821/dxc.png

It is no secret that CCP messed up the COSMOS sites with the release of Odyssey, the first bug was that the cans in the COSMOS sites only respawned once ever 24 hrs, the second bug was that that the COSMOS sites themselves despawned approx 1-2 hours after DT.

Both these bugs were fixed recently however the drop ratio of COSMOS skill books is still ridiculously high compared to other COSMOS components dropped in the same cans.

I have no problem with CCP nerfing the Market Price of COSMOS Skill Books however the current high drop rate of these Skill Books is so nonsensically I have to wonder whether this is still a bug.

Thoughts...?

And can anyone from CCP confirm the facts of the matter either way?

The drop rate of anything that involves exploration appears to be up.
The average price of many of these drops has fallen dramatically, in some cases to 10% of the price 3 months ago.
Soon we'll have T2 fits replaced with deadspace bling fits because it's affordable.
Sounds good to me.

CCP is aware of the increasingly worthless loot issue and intends to address it at some way at some point in the future. I don't know if COSMOS is included in that or what they actually plan to do, so what they have planned might not actually fix anything. Good time to buy these skills and an opportunity to gamble on what effect the CCP changes will have on prices.

lol - sounds like a definitive plan!!! But they shouldn't mess with anything that brings Officer and Faction mods to the masses for cheap... The gamble I am willing to make is that by "fixing" the loot tables, they will make it worse.

The Skillbooks used to drop from a specific (and low in numbers) kind can called a Ancient Stasis Core, and mind you, drop rates were really low., more often than not the drop was an averagely common Datasheet/component.

More common Datasheets/components actually used to build COSMOS modules dropped from the much more numerous Impaired Stasis Core.

NOW: ALL Stasis Core cans drop the Skillbooks, all the time, and its fairly easy to get them from the scatter cans most of the time. Mind you, ALL other kind of Datasheet/components drop rates decreased quite a lot, being replaced by the Skillbooks and/or crappy stuff like PI materials, so it is now a LOT harder to manufacture COSMOS mods due to under supply of components.

So, as a result, gross over supply of Technology Skillbooks killed the profitability of this niche market. And at the rate they drop, they are going to sink even lower. Got especially worse since CCP fixed the re-spawn rate of the cans, but NOT the content they drop.

That basically sum it up.

They've indicated in a few places, that it's a high priority and that people are already working on it. What CCP will likely be interested in tweaking is the average income level of these sites based on internal statistics. So I have no doubt it'll happen and it'll happen either in the autumn point release or the winter expansion. The only real questionmark is the how are they going to do it. The hinted options included things like making some industry items consumables and removing droppable skillbooks from the NPC market. That's where your gamble comes in as not everything is guaranteed to go up in value again.

My trade and manufacturing alt bought a set of those skillbooks 3 - 4 months ago and paid about 550mill, mainly because COSMOS manufacturing is a bit of a niche and I thought it would be cool (rather than massively profitable) to build some of the items. I noticed that the price had dropped so much after Odyssey that you can buy a set for less than 100m now What?

The COSMOS drops could do with a bit of a lookin IMO, there are still bottleneck items that effectively stop you making some of the more interesting items like the digital and booster rockets, cloaks etc. They are either completely unavailable on the market or priced so unrealistically high that you can't build and sell these items at a profit. Which is a shame as I think there would be more interest if they could be build cheaper (not necessarily ridiculously cheaper, just a bit cheaper).
