Hello EVE,

I said I'd be back, and as a "beta vet", I thought I would take up on CCP's invite to return for a test spin.

For starters, I'm waiting for the 5 GB client download to complete. Damn, EVE seems to have grown ..

As to the community, I've already had a chat on TS3 with someone that I knew 10 years ago in the now ancient times of the feared "Curse Alliance". And that was just after reactivating my account.

I haven't played EVE Online for about 3 years so I hope that I'm in for a surprise when the client download completes.

One thing is for certain, the forum interface has improved !

Also, I wonder if someone took control of my old "emsp" (J2ME - EVE Mobile Skill Planner) program (I doubt that someone took on the alliance code). I released the Java code to the public domain back in the days.

At a guess, the web site has changed dramatically, the EVE membership might have a few "old farts" (old name of a coalition and those that are still on the go and still remember me), I can only hope that CCP has continued their path and made the game better.

So, to sum all of this up.

I'm back (for the weekend and maybe for good),

Hopefully the old guard will say hello again, and the new guys will be able to teach me what has changed in the past 3 years.

Let's see what happens over the weekend,

Welcome back. You'll have a lot of fun. I'm not sure when you left exactly but there's a huge amount which is new. A very nice summary is here:

I'm assuming you left after Apocrypha, but if you left before that you're in for an even larger amount of new content.

Thanks ,

I think the Apocrypha expansion was the last one I saw. At least I remember seeing the name.

All will be revealed when the client fires up tomorrow.

Dont bother mate i played since 04 and its **** now, i only log in to chat to the pals i dont have on facebook

But, now you come to me, and you say: "Berneh, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

Yeah, some things won't have changed at all.

You're not a 10 year vet if you took 3 years off.

It didn't take long to locate the tracking beacon, deep inside the quarters for sleepin' They thought they could get away Not today, it's not the way that this kid plays

you can still log in and blow stuff up, so the game can't have changed that much Pirate

as for the website, yea that changed a lot, and I don't like it, can't find anything. someone was nice and linked me the patchnotes, so whenever I type "patchnotes" into my browser it finds it in history, if it weren't for that I wouldn't ever be able to find them.

Welcome back. I've also been away for years but have been pleasantly surprised. Some nice changes, ships seem pretty well balanced. The interface whilst familiar is improved. Ship fitting is much better with ability to save setups etc.

I'm glad I installed EVE again, there's nothing else quite like it. Even the community is suitably hostile/helpful as ever. I remember the Curse Alliance, used to avoid them and all the null sec people back when I was a scared noobBig smile

Hope you enjoy your return as much as I am.

Welcome back.
Nice to see some old players giving EvE another shot ;)
I hope this time you stay with us and that you manage to get back on your feet soon..

Well eve mechanics havent changed that much in past few years if you look at shooting at each other, but in graphical view the game has made an awesome bump.. Everything looks cooler now, from jump animations to missile/gun effects...
Also there were severe changes to probing system and hacking sites..

Hopefully you will manage to cope with all these changes as they really improved the game visualy and in terms of balancing the game play..

Fly safe, and dont forget! Dont shoot neuts in higsec ;)

IDK why you'd actually quit EVE. Stop playing actively, sure, but it's free to play and setting long skills take a few minutes per month.

I just returned about a month ago after a two + year break myself. I took the 5 free day offer as well and got hooked asap by the game...of course, I loved the game before but just got burned out.

Quite a few new features have been introduced. I am sure you will get hooked as I did.

Good luck and fly safe.

Many of the new expansions have been a concoction of balances, visual effects, and quality of life improvements/tweaks.

The most important thing you should probably read up on are the "tiericide" changes. Some hulls got kicked up a notch, others got leveled. It shouldn't be an extremely difficult process adapting to the new stuff, but it will take time.

Also, EVE jukebox was removed some time go. Cry
