Unless they are on the same node.

Then they are equally valid.

I am no goon fan, but having read his post I don't see it as whining. He had a legitimate concern and he voiced it in a reasonable manner. Hardly whining. But, these things happen, polish those ships and get ready for the next engagement.

It would be fine if he wrote it BEFORE CCP publicly apologized and admitted their mistake, for a corporation to admit fault is honorable. For this little punk to just go and tell them how to do their job is laughable. DO you really think that post was anything but a self serving piece of junk???

I think CCP handled it very well and I'm sure they are working harder then The Mittani at keeping the game operational. All he does is add noise without contributing anything meaningful to the conversation. It's like that kid that points a finger and laughs at his parents for tripping on their sand castle.

Did you run out of targets to shoot and accidentally gank the factory?

It was a good article but a missed opportunity. I am glad to see that they know it was a mistake and not a conspiracy.

However, It was a huge missed opportunity to say how screwed up it is to call for someones real life job over a video game. And again I call upon all the leaders of the CFC to step up and say the right thing.

Mittani goes off the rails...

t-minus how many days until he apologizes?

What have we learned?

Goons are able to exploit a mistake created by CCP-> Good

Goons think they are screwed by a mistake by CCP-> Bad

All I've seen is a bunch of noname NPC Corp alts and TESTies going "U MAD BRO?" Stop being a little seven yer old shite chanting, "Ni ner ni ner ni ner!"

TEST dodged a bullet pure and simple, TEST and even PL, admit to that. PL, and N3 are breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't have to slog back in there to pull TESTs fat out of the fire yet again because TEST was being well TEST, but also a little miffed about the fight suddenly being CCPed.

EDIT: As far as the battle goes: I ain't even mad.

Nobody is arguing about the fact that they dodged the bullet (alright, some can, but let's leave them in a special corner); it's the issue that when the server went belly up for TEST and others before, it was to the advantage of the Goons. Now that it has given TEST a slight advantage of not losing a ******* huge amount of caps, Goonswarm and others immediately cry that this is worse than the t20 scandal. Mistakes were made, nothing can be done, and what matters is the present and the future of this war in question, not the perceived wrongdoing by CCP "intentionally" killing the node to save TEST caps.

... goons show us where the bad man touched you on this doll....

Do you really know what it looks like to undock ro jump gates, heck do whatever under -10% Tidi with less than 1000 in local?

Do you even understand what it implies for traveling fleets with no color settings distinction to simply travel 4 or 5 jumps under 10% Tidi?

You clearly seem to have absolutely no idea what this implies for both camps, and one of them will get the higher hand not because he had better tactics or a better fleet but simply because he jump first.

Awesomeness is awesome right?

Well think of it this way: Your team is playing a match, it is an epic match, they are about to score a goal that will decide the tournament basically, it is in the air, and suddenly the lights go out, the entire arena is pitch black. When the lights come back on the refs restart the match all over again. The goalie might have caught it, he might not have, but nobody will know because somebody fatfingered the lightswitch. How would that make you feel?

EDIT: Especially when the other teams fans are going "U MAD BRO?" and "MOAR TEARS PLZ!" like prepubescent shites. We are not mad we are upset that some fatfingered flunkie flipped the switch on a truly epic fight, and want CCP to put something in place (policy or procedure) so that it doesn't happen again.

GOON TEARS BEST TEARS :) This is a TROLL POST of course just repaying the FAVOR

By Sion Kumitomo

Dear CCP:

I love spaceships. I love the sandbox. The sheer possibilities afforded by the near-limitless options and the organic player-driven content are things you just can't find anywhere else. So what I say next, I say out of deep concern. Though you might find it hurtful, it is not meant to hurt.

Incompetence like this ruins your sandbox.

By 'this', I mean the re-mapping of the node in Z9PP during the battle yesterday. The battle in Z9PP started with the destruction of a TEST ihub around downtime, and over the next twelve hours, the system saw varying levels of continued conflict. At peak, local was near 2000 pilots with more set to join the fray. That is, the battle itself was still in the process of escalating. All of this was abruptly ended by the incompetence of your engineers. Further escalation of the battle would have seen hundreds of capitals lost, and supers perhaps fielded or lost. It would have been a battle to remember, a battle that would have graced headlines, a battle pilots would have recalled with pride, or with horror. And that's just the start of what your mistake cost you and thousands of players.

I've seen allegations of t20 levels of conspiracy by various parties, but I think we both know that's not the case. You didn't do this out of malice—I'm certain it was just as you said here, a mistake. Mistakes are fine, everyone makes them. But making the same mistake repeatedly means you aren't learning from them. GSF's own dread fleet was saved by a similar node remap a scant couple of weeks ago, a similar missed opportunity to showcase the vibrant and violent nature of EVE.

But incompetence is worse than malice.

As a company that thrives on occupying a niche in the MMO market, it is in your best interests to prevent this from ever occurring again. These kinds of massive battles and the surrounding narratives are what give you free publicity, both through word of mouth and in the gaming press. If you don't hold your people accountable, and if you don't strive to ensure that checks are in place to prevent this, you're not just hurting the players involved directly, you're hurting the whole game—including yourselves.

You cannot risk your reputation becoming 'lol CCP', nor can you afford to pass up the windfall that massive battles generate for you. What astounds me most is that something like this, something so precious and important to your business model, is something that doesn't have multiple checks in place to prevent just such an event from occurring. This wasn't “just a fight”. These events and others like them are what drive the whole of EVE. It should come as no surprise that players expect pvp to matter in a game built around the integral idea that pvp matters.

Why you wouldn't protect these events as much as you are able is quite utterly beyond me. I don't mean to denigrate other aspects of the game, of course, but let's be honest: the biggest draw of EVE is the possibility that you will have a part in something major. And when it comes to that, very little equals a huge war-turning battle, the murder of a capfleet, or the destruction of thousands of ships. Remember Asakai? That now infamous system and so many others like it are the beating heart of this game. Massive battles are your piles of gold, their stories your frankincense, and their widespread impacts your myrrh.

You can't make pvp matter without making it matter when it matters the most. You cannot allow typos to undermine your game and the potential of EVE, not when it is something so important to your business model.

I don't want a witch hunt. No one does. You've already given us answers as to what happened, and I commend your openness. Communication lets all of us know what transpired and is a great starting point. But it is just that, a starting point. Moreover, what was offered was merely an apology, whereas what you require is action towards a permanent solution. My sincere hope is that you address this issue and communicate to us how it has been addressed. Failing that, I suspect we'll have our answers during the next major fleet battle.

But remember, CCP, this isn't just about the fights. As stewards of the sandbox, you are accountable for it, and it is your reputation and your game that are at stake. So for your sake and ours, the remapping of a node with an active battle must not be allowed to happen again.

Your players understand these implications, CCP. Do you?

In my experience the best tears are the ones I started to shed (either through anger or sadness or whatever, after losing a fight or a ship or whatever) and didn't.

from the article:

"But incompetence is worse than malice."

lol, wtf? That really says it all. This guy just has no clue what he's talking about ever.

He's a second rate hack that's convinced a legion of idiots overly attached to a particular websites forums (sorry, COMMUNITY, lol) that they gobble up his every whim.

In a game where numbers can't be ignored and WILL win out in the end, they've somehow convinced themselves because they have numbers, they must somehow have something going on between their ears.

Am I the only one reading this article? I've read better papers written by 9th graders.

It's good to know you hate us so much, that even when the game developers make catastrophic errors that can and will affect everyone, that you all leap around saying "Goon tears, goon tears!"

I seriously hope you're like, 5 years old or it's pretty embarassing that you're just looking at the fact a complaint has been made and not why.
