I'm not sure what you are saying?

Is it that you are using autopilot or something and minimizing your game window?

maybe you should have the game window active when playing the game.... just a suggestion.

Yep, that's what I'm saying.

As to having the window active while playing, well, you know how it can be after a late nite session at the local Taco Bell. Sometime you just gotta run for the border and can't manually pilot...

I can confirm this. You hit dock, alt+tab for any reason. Doesn't matter if it is 5 or 50 minutes, you dock up only after you alt+tab back to the client (rarely ever use the autopilot). I think it wouldn't hurt to send a bug report or 2.

They should keep that.

Some of my targets have lost some expensive toys because of that.

I don't minimize unless I see my ship in station.

If it's not a feature then it should be. Anything that encourages people to actually pay attention to the game they're playing should be encouraged.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Are you actually asking whether the game docks you when your alt tabbed.......What game ever gets you to a safe spot when you alt-tab.

Regardless of whether or not its a good idea to autopilot, it sounds like a bug.

I've docked plenty of shuttles/pods/etc. while on autopilot and I'll admit to having lazily autopiloted a few cheap haulers those last few jumps because I just wanted a cup of coffee and they docked up fine while I was over at youtube or whatever.

Hmmm.... I've used the Windows Button to go to the desktop while auto piloting. When I maximize the game, I'm docked, but I get a black screen with the sidebar buttons showing. So, I just go into the hanger, and then back into the captain's quarters, and all is good again. I've never been left hanging in space...

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.

Guys, i don't think this is connected with the autopilot. When it happened to me i just selected a station, pressed 'D' and alt+tabbed. Had to suddenly go afk, came back after 4 hours, opened the client and i saw my shuttle in space and i was docked within 3 seconds (without pressing anything).

Happens to me every now and then too. Not using autopilot. Piloting manually only...arrive at system of choice, select station, click "dock", enter warp, alt+tab to desktop, do stuff, alt+tab back to eve. Sometimes I'll end up docked sometimes floating in front of the station. The latter one may require a click on "dock" again, sometimes I'll get docked without doing anything more or less instantly. Didn't file a bug report yet.

:wq!

This has happened to me. Jump in system, select station, click "dock", alt-tab out of game, find myself floating outside station when alt-tabbing back.

Feature.

Autopilot doesn't dock you if you're alt-tabbed. Manually trying to dock then alt-tabbing also leads to you not docking until you maximise the client again.

Which means you actually have to play the game. Don't be lazy bums.

Edit: also not sure why you would have to alt-tab because you ate taco bell.

Autopilot does dock you if you are alt-tabbed. (otherwise my alt running courier missions is screwed)

However, Autopilot decides not to do something once in a while, and just sits at a gate or w/e.

It really should not be a big deal. If you are willing to risk auto pilot, then you shouldn't mind floating in front of a station for a while either. The risk is the same.

I think there is a bug around docking in general, has nothing to do with auto pilot or being minimized. Have you never noticed you try to dock, you even hear it say "Docking Permission Requested" and then nothing happens? I think this is common enough that people are in the habit of pressing D several times. Even Auto-Pilot attempts to dock twice, which indicates CCP is aware of the issue. My guess is that once in a blue moon even the duel docking attempt fails to dock you and you are left hanging in space.
