Minmatar battlecruisers?

Working my way up to my first battlecruiser, any recommendations? Was thinking about the Hurricane but heard that they changed the stats on it so it's not as good as it used to be? Primary use would be mission running (security) and PvE with PvP to follow.

Feel free to suggest good fits too, every bit helps!

Thanks!

How are your fitting skills? I'd tend to prefer something like this:

[Hurricane, L3s]
Dark Blood Power Diagnostic System
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Gyrostabilizer II

Experimental 10MN Afterburner I
Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Explosive Deflection Field II

720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
[empty high slot]

Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
Medium Core Defense Field Purger I

It would be totally fair to drop the third gyro and downgrade the faction PDU to two T2 PDUs; that would also let you upgrade to a T2 extender.

Otherwise there are plenty of viable 425 fits as well. Like this:

[Hurricane, L3s 425]
Tracking Enhancer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Gyrostabilizer II

Experimental 10MN Afterburner I
Large Shield Extender II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Explosive Deflection Field II

425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
[empty high slot]

Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
Medium Core Defense Field Purger I

Higher paper DPS, awful range. Much easier to fit though.

If you happen to have better missile skills, the Cyclone is probably the way to go. Consider something like this:

[Cyclone, L3s]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Gyrostabilizer II
Co-Processor II

Large Shield Booster II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
EM Ward Field II
Experimental 10MN Afterburner I
Large Peroxide Capacitor Power Cell

220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion M
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Missile

Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Medium Semiconductor Memory Cell I

Damage is comparatively anemic, but it has pretty solid application. Which helps.

[Hurricane, ACs+Armor+MWD PvP]

Damage Control II
Medium Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Reactive Armor Hardener
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II

Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Script

425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
425mm AutoCannon II, Hail M
Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I

Medium Projectile Ambit Extension I
Medium Projectile Ambit Extension I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Warrior II x5
Warrior II x1

769 DPS at 1.5km (in-the-face distance) including drones, repair rate is 138 eHP/s (179 eHP/s overheat).

With Repl. Fleet Phased Plasma M and Optimal Range Script does it go out to 21km with 698 DPS, which at the falloff still gives 327 DPS. Barrage M takes the falloff to 32km with a reduced damage of 277 DPS.

Tornadoes are great too for sniping. Pretty high alpha with a rack of 1400s. Although it requires you to train large guns so save that gem for later.

try to read the OP before giving out fits.

New player won't be anywhere near to any of those fits plus they wanted something for pve first.

relative but: is the fit good if it has little relevance to the person requesting it :D?

Also I don't consider your fit good for almost anything. Giant explosive damage weakness and the AAR is not very effective apart from very rare occasions.

I have a question for you, too: why don't you ask the OP?

(seeing your edit and responding to it...)

The fit has got a reactive armor hardener, which will shift the resistances around as needed. The fit is like many fits a compromise between DPS and tank. The more DPS one produces, the faster one kills and the less tank is needed. It then depends much on the weapon and ammo type and how much DPS one can get. Minmatar ships are then generally weaker in terms of eHP than other races, but make up for it with a lower signature and a higher speed. The armor tank, unlike shield buffer tanks, avoids an increase in signature and also has no speed reduction as penalty.

I could have rigged it with an explosive resistance rig, but these reduce the speed, which is counter-productive. It is then Minmatar itself who deal most often explosive damage and what better way to deal with Minmatar ships than producing a high DPS with a Minmatar ship?!

I consider this to be a reasonable solution to the armor explosive hole and not worth putting any more resistances onto it. Instead did I give it a rig to increase the repair amount by 15%.

The two other rigs then extend the falloff, which is what usually TEs would be used for, but since I fitted a tracking computer, which lets me switch between tracking and range boost, can the fitting hit as far out as 20km-30km. Perhaps I could change the ambit rigs for polycarbon engine housings, to have more speed and thereby cover range instead of using the falloff, but it works nicely together with the TC and a range script, and Minmatar ships do have a high base speed. So I left it at that.

Anything else?

Minmitar have 1 (perhaps 2) good BC's Minny got hit with a huge nerf after the TE changes. Best minny ships these days are the BS line. Phoon / Navy phoon / TFI / Mach

However for battlecruisers:

1. AC tornado. Great for PvE and amazing for PvP

[Tornado, New Setup 1]
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Gyrostabilizer II

2. Hurricane FLEET ISSUE: Projection is ****, but its still an ok boat. It deals with light tackle much more easily than the nado. However the nado has speed / DPS / Projection

[NEW Hurricane Fleet Issue, New Setup 1]

This is all good info, some I can use now, some which will help me plan things out as I move ahead. No bad answers, and I thank you all for sharing your ideas!

I'm intrigued, but would the Tornado be overkill for simple mission running? I do like the aspect of having a ship I can segue into PvP with down the road... will definitely look into this...

The nado is not overkill ofr mission running. If you are really serious about mission running, then you will eventually get a Mach, and blitz missions for maximum isk making potential.

At low SP you should just let your decision on whether to go turrets or missiles determine which BC you use.
