Dual training vs. dual account

Hi all Smile
I'm still very new (I started less than a week ago).

I noticed you can activate dual training on you account to train 2 chars at the same time (either by paying directly or with PLEX). That's about 20$, while 1 month sub is about 15$.

You can get discounts by buying multiple PLEX, but you can also get discounts by subbing for more that 1 month at a time, so it seems to me that training 2 chars on the same account will always be more expensive than keeping up 2 different accounts.

Is there a reason for that?
Are there things that you cannot do on 2 different accounts, or that are so expensive that it's more convenient to pay more money to train on the same account?

Paying to have dual training on one account can be very handy if your only looking to spend a month or two training it. Normally this would be something like a trade character, a freighter alt, a decent scanner that you can put permanently in a WH and similar. However if your looking for something more long term (a decent cap ship pilot as an example) i would suggest that you start a second account instead.

Of course you could pay for a separate account for the short skills/professions as well but then when your done training it its sort of pointless to pay a 15$ fee for a character you rarely use and never train skills on. Which then leaves you with the option of transferring that character to your main account which will cost you about 20$ i think.

I currently have an alt training with PLEX.

The only difference it makes as far as I know is that you can get some free training time by making a new account with a buddy invite and then PLEXING it.

This will give you the buddy reward of a free PLEX or 30 days game time. This is a win win situation as you actually end up with 30 days FREE in addition to the FREE 21 day trial so a total of 51 days training.

The dual training option really makes sense if you have a character which is already partially trained and in existence on the same account as your main. This is because the cost to transfer it off, pay for a single month and transfer it back would be about 3 PLEXs worth in rl money. So in many cases about 3 maybe 4 months max is going to come out to close to even, to a character which was transferred off onto another account, paid for a month, then transferred back.

If you are going to do a new character it is usually more cost efficient to just make it on a separate account and train it to where you want, then transfer it to your current account. This is especially true if you plan on training for the long term, i.e have a mission running alt or industry alt for your pvp main.

I'm not a multiboxer but I'm usually an altoholic in MMOs, I like to have a trading alt stationed in a convenient hub and then different alts setup for different tasks.

I didn't think of the need of moving chars among accounts, I thought there were limits on that, now I can see the dual training can be cheaper in the case of very short training.

So it all comes down to carefully planning the training and then see on which account is more convenient to do that (assuming what you're planning to do is something you want an alt for).

Also the buddy thing looks like a really nice way to start a second account.

Thanks everyone for the good advice! Smile
