So I am into my 5th day playing and I have been doing a lot of reading. My plan is to get skills trained up to do some solo pvp and start a life of pirating. I don't mind about eventually being outlawed to nullsec, that is the plan. What is the best way to meet players who I could form a small group with, from what I read, pirate corps don't really take brand new players.

Try the recruitment forum, sadly most of the corps that are "awesome" have an overbearing sp requirement or something along those lines. Hence why eve is sometimes hard for newer people like us to get into. Bear in mind some corps are actually noob friendly and what not...but don't expect you to be cherry picked without at least putting forth some effort.

Hang out in the tutorial mission station system, and the surrounding ones, and watch local.. there is a chance that there will be some reasonably cool folks there that want the same thing as you, or potential victims.

I don't know how else you'll meet people that are that new and that are willing to commit to a life of piracy with a newb stranger, but that may give you a decent shot at it.

Some corporations will take on young players, or just see trough the fingers if you dont meet their SP requirement. Just try to be upfront with the recruiters, show them that you are serious, dedicated and willing to learn.

Other then that... Talk to people in local, get to know the local pirates and from there you might find your self getting an invite, and if nothing else you can learn from them Smile

I would suggest first joining OUCH and learning a bit, you will probably make some contacts along the way.

Best way to get to know pirate corps is by crashing into their home system in lowsec and picking fights with them. The best friends are made through mutual explosions - plus you learn by doing. Smile

One a sidenote, Black Rebel Rifter Club is a frigate-based pirating corp which does take in newbies. Look us up sometime. Pirate

This is pretty decent advice.
When you get blown up, laugh it off, and treat it as all in good fun. When the other guy gives you guff, take it in stride. Even when they grief you. Especially when they grief you. Be likable, don't be sore. And if they make a bad impression on you, quietly move on.

You'll want to identify a target corp to join. Talk to their recruiter, and in the meantime, figure out where they hang out, and attack them. Better to focus your energy toward one group. There's too many corps out there that if you don't focus, it wont make an impression.

But getting into a corp asap is the best thing you could possible do. Eve isn't so hot alone, and PVP alone isn't either.

Plenty of small minded people around. Just go have a look at how some of the big alliances are run. Going AFK for dinner is a crime in some :'). RL What?!?

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Thanks for the advice :). As soon as I decided that I was going to just ignore my security status and start blowing up things for fun, then I knew that I would need the right attitude and getting sore or annoyed when someone says something I don't agree with, so I'd say I'm pretty sorted there. Once I can fit my merlin out for PVP I'm sure you will all see me lurking around low and null sec :D
