I saw a guy pop a cyno at exact center of the sun. I warped there and got bumped out by the sun, yet I didn't see any ships there.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Whoever lit the cyno made a bookmark at the center of the sun, warped to it, and lit the cyno before they got bounced. Its actually against the rules to intentionally move after you light a cyno so if you know who did it you can petition them if you care.

Hot drop an entire fleet of titans, supercaps, capitals and various ships all at once, and you have a gigantic explosion of ships. That might be entertaining

It bypasses the intended purpose of having a cyno beacon that is visible to everyone. What's the point of warping to a beacon if nobody will be there and you can't even kill the ship that lit the cyno

Sorry, but any reasonable person would consider this an exploit.
Nice idea though, it's probably going to be used to death until they fix it. Lol

Oh Chribba, you should know that half the rules quoted in GD are made up on the spot.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

this is a well-known ruling as bumping cyno ship into POS forcefields is an idea that resurfaces every so often

The point is that you use the game mechanics to make sure you survive, just like you use the game mechanics to bump someone of a gate.
I know its frustating for griefers if they cant kill a freighter because he used a game mechanic to beat you ( the attacker not you ).
Its not a reason to call one thing an exploit but to call things that are helping you a normal game mechanic.

As you can see in this topic https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=199310&find=unread bumping of a ship is allowed.
In this situation the sun is being used to bump a player ship, which is a game mechanic.
Just like using a pos shield to bump out a ship that is being camped.

LMFAO I wanna do something like that.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

I have forwarded the question about the legality of lighting a cyno at the centre of a sun to CCP. I also pointed them to this thread.

Hope that helps.

Edit: And warping into a sun to get a large ship up to ludicrous speed gives quite a kick actually...Cool

A simple change to this mechanic might also lead to a far worst use of the new mechanic, I already see some from here and I'm sure you do too.

I'm not agreeing this is good as it is but it's a clever use of the mechanic not an exploit.
Titans bumping ships out of the pos, and getting bump also on the process is a known mechanic use also.

The only issue we can see here is not how the players managed to use it for their profit but how in the mechanic it self couldn't predict this and prevent it from happening.

Here's some player created content with tools CCP have thrown at them and said FU. Lol

There appears to be an organized effort on this forum that squashes creative thinking. So someone found a creative use for a game mechanic.....so what!

Try to be like this cyno guy and think outside your 1mm X 1mm box sometimes. The majority of this game is about discovery.

All game exploits could be justified as "creative thinking." How many exploits were fixed in the past? 100s of them. So unless you are willing to undo fixes for all the past exploits, it's not right to just dismiss this one.

Let CCP decide if this is a good thing for the game or not. If they say it's legit, fine, we'll all start using it

Surprised this 'secret' stayed secret for so long.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt
